O que significa "nem só de pão vive o homem"
A frase significa que a sobrevivência física não basta para sustentar o ser humano: o corpo precisa de alimento, mas a vida verdadeira depende de Deus e da obediência à sua palavra. Jesus afirmou isso ao ser tentado no deserto, recusando transformar pedras em pão para satisfazer uma fome física fora da vontade do Pai.
But He answered and said, "It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’ "(Matthew 4:4)
And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread." And Jesus answered him, "It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’ "(Luke 4:3,4)
A origem da lição no deserto de Israel
Ao responder à tentação, Jesus citou Deuteronômio 8:3. Moisés lembrava ao povo de Israel o propósito do maná durante os quarenta anos de peregrinação: Deus permitiu que sentissem fome e os sustentou de forma sobrenatural para ensinar que a vida humana não é mantida apenas por recursos materiais, mas pelo comando soberano do Senhor.
Quando Jesus jejuou quarenta dias, o tentador sugeriu que Ele usasse sua autoridade divina para suprir a necessidade imediata do corpo. Jesus rejeitou a proposta, demonstrando que a confiança e a submissão a Deus vêm antes do apetite físico.
And He humbled you and let you go hungry, and fed you with the manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, in order to make you understand that man shall not live on bread alone, but man shall live on everything that comes out of the mouth of the Lord.(Deuteronomy 8:3)
Jesus, o pão que dá a vida eterna
No Evangelho de João, Jesus expande essa verdade após alimentar a multidão. As pessoas voltaram a procurá-lo pelo pão material, mas Ele redirecionou a atenção para a necessidade espiritual: o pão terreno sacia apenas por algumas horas, mas Cristo é o pão da vida que desceu do céu para dar vida eterna.
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me will never be thirsty.(John 6:35)
I am the bread of life.(John 6:48)
I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats from this bread, he will live forever; and the bread which I will give for the life of the world also is My flesh."(John 6:51)
Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, the one who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.This is the bread that came down out of heaven, not as the fathers ate and died; the one who eats this bread will live forever."(John 6:57,58)
O sustento diário e a prioridade do Reino
A declaração não desvaloriza o pão nem as necessidades básicas da vida. No Sermão do Monte, Jesus reconhece que o ser humano precisa de comida e vestimenta, mas proíbe a ansiedade que coloca essas coisas como o centro da existência. A orientação é buscar primeiro o Reino de Deus, confiando que o Pai cuida das necessidades materiais.
Jesus viveu esse princípio de forma prática ao declarar que o seu verdadeiro alimento era realizar a vontade do Pai. Essa mesma convicção permitiu que o profeta Habacuque permanecesse firme e alegre em Deus, mesmo diante da escassez total na lavoura e no rebanho.
"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing?(Matthew 6:25)
And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying.For all these things are what the nations of the world eagerly seek; and your Father knows that you need these things.But seek His kingdom, and these things will be provided to you.(Luke 12:29-31)
Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, "Rabbi, eat something." But He said to them, "I have food to eat that you do not know about."So the disciples were saying to one another, "No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?" Jesus *said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work.(John 4:31-34)
Even if the fig tree does not blossom,
And there is no fruit on the vines,
If the yield of the olive fails,
And the fields produce no food,
Even if the flock disappears from the fold,
And there are no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will triumph in the Lord,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
The Lord God is my strength,
And He has made my feet like deer’s feet,
And has me walk on my high places.
