Obediência aos pais
A obediência aos pais é mandamento divino com promessa de vida longa. A Bíblia valoriza a honra filial e ensina os filhos a respeitar e obedecer aos pais com amor.
Honrar pai e mãe
O quinto mandamento ordena honrar pai e mãe. É o primeiro mandamento com promessa: para que vá bem e vivas muito na terra.
Honour thy father and thy mother, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long on the good land, which the Lord thy God gives to thee.
Honour thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God commanded thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long upon the land, which the Lord thy God gives thee.
Obedecer e respeitar
Filhos, obedecei a vossos pais no Senhor. A obediência filial é expressão de amor e temor a Deus.
Hear, my son, the instruction of thy father, and reject not the rules of thy mother. For thou shalt receive for thine head a crown of graces, and a chain of gold round thy neck.
My son, keep the laws of thy father, and reject not the ordinances of thy mother: but bind them upon thy soul continually, and hang them as a chain about thy neck. Whensoever thou walkest, lead this along and let it be with thee; and when thou sleepest let it keep thee; that it may talk with thee when thou wakest. For the commandment of the law is a lamp and a light; a way of life; reproof also and correction:
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you a good gift; forsake ye not my law. For I also was a son obedient to my father, and loved in the sight of my mother: who spoke and instructed me, saying, Let our speech be fixed in thine heart, keep our commandments, forget them not: and do not neglect the speech of my mouth. And forsake it not, and it shall cleave to thee: love it, and it shall keep thee.
A wise son is obedient to his father: but a disobedient son will be destroyed.
Disciplina e consequências
A vara e a repreensão dão sabedoria. A Bíblia adverte sobre as consequências sérias da rebeldia e desonra aos pais.
Stripes and reproofs give wisdom: but an erring child disgraces his parents.
He that dishonours his father, and drives away his mother, shall be disgraced and shall be exposed to reproach.
Whoever smites his father or his mother, let him be certainly put to death.
And if any man has a disobedient and contentious son, who hearkens not to the voice of his father and the voice of his mother, and they should correct him, and he should not hearken to them; then shall his father and his mother take hold of him, and bring him forth to the elders of his city, and to the gate of the place: and they shall say to the men of their city, This our son is disobedient and contentious, he hearkens not to our voice, he is a reveller and a drunkard. And the men of his city shall stone him with stones, and he shall die; and thou shalt remove the evil one from yourselves, and the rest shall hear and fear.
