Obediência aos pais
A obediência aos pais é mandamento divino com promessa de vida longa. A Bíblia valoriza a honra filial e ensina os filhos a respeitar e obedecer aos pais com amor.
Honrar pai e mãe
O quinto mandamento ordena honrar pai e mãe. É o primeiro mandamento com promessa: para que vá bem e vivas muito na terra.
"Honor your father and your mother, so that your days can be long on the land that Yahweh your God is giving you.
‘Honor your father and your mother, as Yahweh your God commanded you, so that it will be good for you in the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you.
For God said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and ‘The one who speaks evil of father or mother must certainly die.’
Children and Parents
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" (which is the first commandment with a promise), "in order that it may be well with you, and you may live a long time on the earth."And fathers, do not make your children angry, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Obedecer e respeitar
Filhos, obedecei a vossos pais no Senhor. A obediência filial é expressão de amor e temor a Deus.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord.
Lecture Against Gang Behavior
My child, may you keep your father’s instruction,
and do not reject your mother’s teachings,
for they are a garland of favor for your head,
and pendants for your neck.
Commandment and Instruction as Guardians
My child, keep the commandment of your father,
and do not disregard the instruction of your mother.
Bind them on your heart continually;
tie them upon your neck.
When you walk, she will lead you,
When you lie down, she will watch over you,
and when you awake, she will converse with you.
For like a lamp is a commandment, and instruction is light,
and the way of life is the reproof of discipline,
The Father’s Wisdom
Children, listen to the instruction of a father,
and be attentive in order to know insight.
For I have given you good instruction;
do not forsake my teaching.
When I was a son to my father,
tender and alone before my mother,
he taught me and said to me,
"May your heart hold fast to my words;
guard my commandments and live.
Get wisdom and insight;
do not forget and do not turn from the sayings of my mouth.
Do not forsake her—then she will guard you;
love her and she will keep you.
A wise child hears the discipline of a father,
but a scoffer does not listen to a rebuke.
Train the child concerning his way;
even when he is old, he will not stray from it.
Disciplina e consequências
A vara e a repreensão dão sabedoria. A Bíblia adverte sobre as consequências sérias da rebeldia e desonra aos pais.
As for a rod and reproof, they will give wisdom,
but a neglected child is disgraced by his mother.
He who does violence to a father, he who chases away a mother,
is a child who causes shame and brings reproach.
The eye that mocks a father
and scorns the obedience of a mother—
the ravens of the valley will peck it out,
and the offspring of vultures will eat it.
And whoever strikes his father or his mother will surely be put to death.
"If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not listen to the voice of his father and to the voice of his mother, and they discipline him, and he does not obey them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him, and they shall bring him out to the elders of his city and to the gate of his town,and they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he does not obey us, and he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of his city shall stone him with stones and let him die; and so you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all of Israel will hear, and they will fear.
He who curses his father and his mother,
his lamp will be extinguished in the midst of darkness.
Endure it for discipline. God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline?
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must learn to show profound respect for their own household first, and to pay back recompense to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God.
