Orgulho
O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.
Deus resiste ao soberbo
A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.
Pride leads to destruction; and an arrogant spirit leads to a fall.
The Lord hates the arrogant. You can be certain of this: the wicked won't go unpunished.
There's a way that seems to be right, but in the end it's the way of death.

Humildade como caminho
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.
But God gives us even more grace, as Scripture says: "God is against those who are arrogant, but gives grace to those who are humble."
Be humble before the Lord and he will lift you up.
Believers who are born poor should take pride in the high position they've been given, while the rich should "boast" in the humble position they now have, since they will fade away like flowers in the field.
Young people, do what the elders tell you. Indeed all of you should serve one another in humility, because "God is against the proud, but favors the humble." Humble yourself before God's powerful hand so that he will lift you up at the appropriate time. Surrender all your worries to him, because he cares for you.
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."
Don't do anything from a spirit of selfishness or pride, but humbly think of others better than you do of yourself. None of you should be preoccupied about your own things—instead concern yourself with the interests of others too.
The attitude you should have is the same as that of Christ Jesus.
Os perigos do orgulho
O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.
For all the things of this world—our sinful desires, wanting everything we see, boasting about what we've accomplished in life— these things don't come from the Father but from the world.
So if you think you're strong enough to stay standing—be careful you don't fall!
If I were to donate everything I own to the poor, or if I were to sacrifice myself to be burned as a martyr, and have no love, then I gain nothing.
He chose the things that are unimportant and despised by the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, so that nobody should boast in God's presence.
"If anyone wants to boast, boast about the Lord." It's not those who praise themselves that are respected, but those that the Lord praises.

Pride only causes conflict; but those who take advice are wise.
The reward you receive for being humble and respecting the Lord is wealth, honor, and life.
Warn those who are rich in the present world not to become proud. Tell them not to place their trust in wealth that is so insecure but in God who so freely gives us everything for our enjoyment.
O olhar de Deus
O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.
But the Lord said to Samuel, "Don't look at his outward appearance or how tall he is, because I have rejected him, for the Lord does not look as human beings do. Human beings only see with their eyes what's on the outside, but the Lord looks at the way people think deep inside."
Don't speak so conceitedly! Don't talk so arrogantly! For the Lord is a God who knows everything—doesn't he judge what you do?
I made everything; that's how it all came into existence, says the Lord. Those I look favorably on are humble and repentant, and they tremble when I speak.
So now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, honor, and glorify the King of Heaven, for everything he does is right, and his ways are true. He is able to humble those who are proud.
The king of Israel replied, "Tell him this: A man putting on his armor should not brag like one who is taking it off."
Think about one another. Don't consider yourself more important than others; live humbly. Don't be conceited.
But the Spirit produces fruit such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trust, gentleness, self-control—and there's no law against these kinds of things!
