Orgulho

Por Bíblia Online

O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.

Deus resiste ao soberbo

A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.

Pride leads to destruction, and arrogance to downfall.

The Lord hates everyone who is arrogant; he will never let them escape punishment.

What you think is the right road may lead to death.

To honor the Lord is to hate evil;

I hate pride and arrogance,

evil ways and false words.

People who are proud will soon be disgraced. It is wiser to be modest.

People who are proud will soon be disgraced. It is wiser to be modest.

Arrogance will bring your downfall, but if you are humble, you will be respected.

Arrogance will bring your downfall, but if you are humble, you will be respected.

No one is respected unless he is humble; arrogant people are on the way to ruin.

No one is respected unless he is humble; arrogant people are on the way to ruin.

The Lord will destroy the homes of arrogant men, but he will protect a widow’s property.

Humildade como caminho

Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.

But the grace that God gives is even stronger. As the scripture says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Poverty and Riches

Those Christians who are poor must be glad when God lifts them up, and the rich Christians must be glad when God brings them down. For the rich will pass away like the flower of a wild plant.

In the same way you younger people must submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you must put on the apron of humility, to serve one another; for the scripture says, "God resists the proud, but shows favor to the humble." Humble yourselves, then, under God’s mighty hand, so that he will lift you up in his own good time. Leave all your worries with him, because he cares for you.

For those who make themselves great will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be made great."

Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one another’s interests, not just for your own. The attitude you should have is the one that Christ Jesus had:

Os perigos do orgulho

O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.

Everything that belongs to the worldwhat the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are so proud ofnone of this comes from the Father; it all comes from the world.

If you think you are standing firm you had better be careful that you do not fall.

I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burnedbut if I have no love, this does me no good.

He chose what the world looks down on and despises and thinks is nothing, in order to destroy what the world thinks is important. This means that no one can boast in God’s presence.

But as the scripture says, "Whoever wants to boast must boast about what the Lord has done." For it is when the Lord thinks well of us that we are really approved, and not when we think well of ourselves.

And he went on to say, "It is what comes out of you that makes you unclean. For from the inside, from your heart, come the evil ideas which lead you to do immoral things, to rob, kill, commit adultery, be greedy, and do all sorts of evil things; deceit, indecency, jealousy, slander, pride, and follyall these evil things come from inside you and make you unclean."

Arrogance causes nothing but trouble. It is wiser to ask for advice.

Obey the Lord, be humble, and you will get riches, honor, and a long life.

Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment.

O olhar de Deus

O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.

But the Lord said to him, "Pay no attention to how tall and handsome he is. I have rejected him, because I do not judge as people judge. They look at the outward appearance, but I look at the heart."

Stop your loud boasting;

silence your proud words.

For the Lord is a God who knows,

and he judges all that people do.

I myself created the whole universe! I am pleased with those who are humble and repentant, who fear me and obey me.

"And now, I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, honor, and glorify the King of Heaven. Everything he does is right and just, and he can humble anyone who acts proudly."

King Ahab answered, "Tell King Benhadad that a real soldier does his bragging after a battle, not before it."

Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise.

But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.
