Orgulho
O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.
Deus resiste ao soberbo
A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.
Humildade como caminho
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.
6 «But he gives greater favor. For it says,» 'God resists the proud, but gives favor to the humble.'
10 Be humble in the presence of the Lord, and he will lift you up.
9 Moreover, let the brother of humble condition glory in his exaltation,10 and the rich in his humiliation; for as a garden flower he shall pass away.-
5 For the like reason, you younger persons subject yourselves to the seniors. Yes, all be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud but gives favor to the humble.6 Be humbled, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.7 Cast all your anxious care on him, because he cares for you.
11 For whoever exalts himself, shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself, shall be exalted.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but, in humbleness of mind esteem each other better that yourselves:4 not aiming every one at his own interests, but every one also, at the interests of the others.5 Now let this disposition be in you which was also in Christ Jesus;
Os perigos do orgulho
O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father, but is of the world.
12 Wherefore, let him who thinks he stands, take heed, lest he fall.
3 And though I spend all my goods in feeding the poor, and though I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I am nothing profited.
28 the ignoble of the world, and the despised, God has chosen; nay, those that are nothing, to reduce to nothing those that are;29 that not flesh might boast in his presence.
17 He, then, who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.18 For not he who commends himself is approved; but whom the Lord commends.
20 But, added he, that which proceeds out of the man, is what pollutes the man:21 for from within the human heart proceed vicious machinations, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts,22 insatiable desires, malevolence, fraud, immodesty, envy, calumny, arrogance, levity.23 All these evils issue from within, and pollute the man.
17 Charge the rich in the present world not to be elated in mind, nor to trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who confers on us richly all things for enjoyment-
O olhar de Deus
O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.
16 Be of the same disposition toward one another. Do not care for high things; but accommodate yourselves to those which are humble. Be not wise in your own conceits.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity,23 meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.
