Orgulho
O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.
Deus resiste ao soberbo
A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.
Pride [is] before destruction, || And before stumbling—a haughty spirit.
Every proud one of heart [is] an abomination to YHWH, || Hand to hand—he is not acquitted.
There is a way right before a man, || And its latter end—ways of death.
The fear of YHWH [is] to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and an evil way, || And a contrary mouth, I have hated.
Pride has come, and shame comes, || And wisdom [is] with the lowly.
Pride has come, and shame comes, || And wisdom [is] with the lowly.
The pride of man humbles him, || And humility of spirit upholds honor.

The heart of man is high before destruction, || And humility [is] before honor.

YHWH pulls down the house of the proud, || And He sets up the border of the widow.
Humildade como caminho
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.
but [God] gives greater grace, for this reason it says, "God sets Himself up against proud ones, and He gives grace to lowly ones."
be made low before the LORD, and He will exalt you.
And let the brother who is low rejoice in his exaltation, but the rich in his becoming low, because he will pass away as a flower of grass;
In like manner, you young [ones], be subject to elders, and all subjecting yourselves to one another; clothe yourselves with humble-mindedness, because God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble; be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that He may exalt you in good time, having cast all your care on Him, because He cares for you.
because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, and he who is humbling himself will be exalted."
nothing in rivalry or vainglory, but in humility of mind counting one another more excellent than yourselves— do not each look to your own, but each also to the things of others. For let this mind be in you that [is] also in Christ Jesus,
Os perigos do orgulho
O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.
because all that [is] in the world—the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of [one’s] life—is not of the Father, but of the world,
so that he who is thinking to stand—let him observe, lest he fall.
and if I give away all my goods to feed others, and if I give up my body that I may be burned, and do not have love, I am profited nothing.
and God chose the base things of the world, and the things despised, and the things that are not, that He may make useless the things that are— that no flesh may glory before Him;
and he who is boasting—let him boast in the LORD; for he who is commending himself is not approved, but he whom the LORD commends.
And He said, "That which is coming out from the man, that defiles the man; for from within, out of the heart of men, the evil reasonings come forth, adulteries, whoredoms, murders, thefts, covetous desires, wickedness, deceit, arrogance, an evil eye, slander, pride, foolishness; all these evils come forth from within, and they defile the man."
A vain man causes debate through pride, || And wisdom [is] with the counseled.
The end of humility [is] the fear of YHWH, riches, and honor, and life.
Charge those rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who is giving to us all things richly for enjoyment—
O olhar de Deus
O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.
And YHWH says to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance, and at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him; for [it is] not as man sees—for man looks at the eyes, and YHWH looks at the heart."
You do not multiply—you speak haughtily—The old saying goes out from your mouth, || For YHWH [is] a God of knowledge, || And actions are weighed by Him.
And My hand has made all these, || And all these things are," || A declaration of YHWH! "And to this one I look attentively, || To the humble and bruised in spirit, || And who is trembling at My word.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, am praising and exalting and honoring the King of the heavens, for all His works [are] truth, and His paths judgment, and those walking in pride He is able to humble."
And the king of Israel answers and says, "Speak: Do not let him who is girding on boast himself as him who is loosing [his armor]."
of the same mind toward one another, not minding the high things, but with the lowly going along; do not become wise in your own conceit;
And the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, [and] self-control. Against such there is no law;
