Orgulho
O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.
Deus resiste ao soberbo
A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.
Humildade como caminho
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.
6 But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.
9 Let the lowly brother glory in his high station,10 and let the rich brother glory in his lowly station, for he will pass away like a flower of the grass.
5 In the same way you younger men must be subject to your elders. You all must put on the apron of humble service for one another. For God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.6 Humble yourselves, then, under the mighty hand of God so that he may lift you up at the right time.7 Cast all your anxiety on him, for he cares for you.
11 For every one who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
3 doing nothing in a partisan or vainglorious way, but each modestly regarding the others as of more account than himself.4 Do not be each intent on his own interests, but also on the interests of others.5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
Os perigos do orgulho
O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.
16 for all that is in the world, the passions of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the show and pride of life, is not from the Father, but from the world.
12 So let him who thinks that he is standing beware of falling.
3 And if I distribute all that I have to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
28 and God has chosen the low-born things and the things of no account, the things that are not, to defeat the things that are,29 that no human being may boast in God's presence.
17 "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."18 For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
20 "But," he said, "what comes out of a man is what defiles him;21 for from within, out of the hearts of men, come evil thoughts, unchastities, thefts, murders,22 adulteries, lusts, wickednesses, deceit, sensuality, an evil eye, slander, arrogance, recklessness \'97 23 all these had things come out from within, and they defile the man."
17 Command those who are rich in this world not to be haughty nor to fix their hope on uncertain wealth, but on God who provides all things richly for our enjoyment.
O olhar de Deus
O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.
16 Be in harmony with one another. Do not be thinking of high things, but be content with humble things. Do not become conceited.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, slowness to anger, kindness, benevolence, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.
