Orgulho
O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.
Deus resiste ao soberbo
A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.
Humildade como caminho
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.
6 But he giveth greater grace: therefore it saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of God, and he will lift you up.
9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:10 But the rich, in that he is made low; because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
5 In like manner, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder, and be ye all subject to each other. Be ye cloathed with humility; for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.7 Watch: be vigilant:
11 humbleth himself shall be exalted.
3 Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind, esteem each the others better than themselves.4 Look not every one at his own things, but every one also at the things of others.5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,
Os perigos do orgulho
O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.
16 For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eye, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
12 Therefore let him that standeth, take heed, lest he fall.
3 And though I give all my goods to feed the poor, and deliver up my body to be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing.
28 And the base things of the world, and things that are despised, hath God chosen; yea, things that are not, to bring to nought the things that are; That no flesh may glory before him.29 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who is made by God unto us wisdom,
17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.21 For from within, out of the heart of man proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, envy, evil speaking, pride, foolishness.23 All these evils come from within, and defile the man.
17 Charge the rich in this world not to be high-minded, neither to trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy:
O olhar de Deus
O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.
16 Agree in the same affection toward each other.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity,23 Meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.
