O que significa ouvir na Bíblia

Na Bíblia, ouvir significa muito mais do que registrar sons: ouvir a Deus é prestar atenção, crer e colocar a mensagem em prática. Tanto no hebraico (shama) quanto no grego (akouo), o ato de ouvir está inseparavelmente ligado à obediência.

A fé cristã nasce dessa escuta atenta. Paulo explica que a confiança em Deus não surge do nada, mas de ouvir a mensagem de Cristo proclamada:

17 Trusting in God comes from hearing—hearing the message of Christ.(Romans 10:17)

14 But how can people call on someone they don’t trust? How can they trust someone they haven’t heard about? How can they hear unless they’re told?(Romans 10:14)

9 Anybody who has ears should be listening!"(Matthew 13:9)

Ouvir e colocar em prática

Ouvir a instrução divina sem agir é considerado autoengano nas Escrituras. Jesus e Tiago insistem que a maturidade espiritual não se mede pela quantidade de ensino acumulado, mas pela disposição prática de edificar a vida sobre o que foi ouvido:

22 But do what the word says—don’t just listen to it and delude yourselves.(James 1:22)

24 Everyone that hears the words I say, and follows them, is like a wise man who built his house on solid rock. 25 The rain poured down, and the floods rose, and the winds blew hard against the house, but it didn’t fall down, because its foundations were on solid rock.

26 Everyone that hears the words I say, and doesn’t follow them, is like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain poured down, and the floods rose, and the winds blew hard against the house, and it fell down—it totally collapsed."(Matthew 7:24-27)

28 But Jesus said, "Even more blessed are those who hear God’s word, and follow what it says."(Luke 11:28)

9 Put into practice what you learned and received from me, what you saw me doing and heard me say. Then the God of peace will be with you.(Philippians 4:9)

4 Jesus answered, "As Scripture says, ‘Human beings do not live by only eating bread, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’"(Matthew 4:4)

Como reconhecer a voz de Deus

Jesus usa a relação entre o pastor e o rebanho para ilustrar como os discípulos aprendem a discernir a sua voz. Esse reconhecimento depende de convivência constante, apego à palavra revelada e atenção à ação de Deus:

27 My sheep recognize my voice; I know them, and they follow me.(John 10:27)

24 I tell you the truth: those who follow what I say and trust the one who sent me have eternal life. They won’t be condemned, but have gone from death to life.

25 I tell you the truth: The time is coming—in fact it’s here already—when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live!(John 5:24,25)

20 Look, I’m standing at the door, knocking. If anyone hears me calling and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them, and they with me.(Revelation 3:20)

4 You are to follow the Lord your God and respect him. Keep his commandments and do what he says; worship him and hold onto him.(Deuteronomy 13:4)

5 Let me ask you: does God give you the Spirit and do so many miracles among you because you keep the law, or is it because you trust in what you heard?(Galatians 3:5)

A certeza de que Deus ouve a oração

A escuta bíblica é uma via de mão dupla. Deus não é indiferente às aflições humanas: Ele inclina os ouvidos para atender o clamor sincero dos que o buscam com humildade e confiança:

1 I love the Lord because he listens to me, he hears my calls for help.

2 Because he pays attention to what I say I will pray to him as long as I live.(Psalms 116:1,2)

15 The Lord watches over those who do right, and he hears when they cry for help.(Psalms 34:15)

6 In my despair I called on the Lord—I cried out to my God for help. He heard my voice from his Temple—my cry for help reached his ears.(Psalms 18:6)

14 We can be confident that he will listen to us as long as we ask in accordance with his will.(1 John 5:14)

15 If we know that he hears our requests, we can be sure that we will receive what we’ve asked him for.(1 John 5:15)

12 Then you will call for my help, you will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.(Jeremiah 29:12)

3 Call out to me, and I will answer you, explaining to you amazing, hidden things about which you don’t have any idea.(Jeremiah 33:3)

1 Don’t you see? The Lord’s arm isn’t too weak to save you, and his ear isn’t too deaf to hear you!(Isaiah 59:1)

3 Please listen to what I have to say in the morning, Lord. Every morning I put my requests to you and wait for your reply.(Psalms 5:3)

8 Tell me every morning about your trustworthy love, because I put my confidence in you. Show me the way I should go, because I dedicate myself to you.(Psalms 143:8)

Sabedoria para ouvir os outros

A Bíblia também orienta a escuta nas relações humanas diárias. Precipitar-se para falar antes de ouvir é sinal de insensatez, enquanto a paciência para acolher conselhos, correções e dialogar em momentos de conflito preserva a paz e edifica o próximo:

19 Remember this, my dear friends: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak, and slow to get angry,(James 1:19)

13 Replying before hearing is stupidity and shame.(Proverbs 18:13)

20 If you pay attention to wise instruction you will do well; you’ll be happy if you trust in the Lord.(Proverbs 16:20)

17 If you accept instruction, you’re on the path to life, but if you reject correction you’ll go astray.(Proverbs 10:17)

9 God hates the prayers of people who disregard the law.(Proverbs 28:9)

5 It’s better to listen to criticism from a wise person than to hear the song of fools.(Ecclesiastes 7:5)

15 If a brother sins against you, go and point out the wrong to him, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you’ve won your brother over. 16 But if he doesn’t listen, then take one or two more people with you, so that by two or three witnesses the truth can be confirmed. 17 If, however, he refuses to listen to them, then tell the church. If he refuses to listen to the church as well, then treat him as a foreigner and a tax collector.(Matthew 18:15-17)
