A paciência é fruto do Espírito e virtude essencial da vida cristã. Deus é paciente conosco, e nos chama a ser pacientes com os outros e nas provações.
A paciência de Deus
Deus é clemente e tardio em irar-se. Sua paciência revela seu desejo de que todos se arrependam e cheguem ao conhecimento da verdade.
The Lord is kind and gracious, not quick-tempered, and full of trustworthy love.
The Lord is not delaying the fulfillment of his promise, as some define delay, but he is being very patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost, but everyone to come and repent.
However, my friends, don’t forget this one thing: that for the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day.
Repent in your minds, and not by tearing your clothes." Come back to the Lord your God for he is gracious and kind. He is slow to get angry and full of faithful love, and changes his mind about sending punishment.
For this reason I was shown mercy—since I’m the worst sinner, Jesus Christ could demonstrate his infinite patience as an example to those who choose to trust in him and gain eternal life.
So the Lord waits, wanting to be kind to you, ready to act to show you mercy, for the Lord is a God who does what is right. All who wait for him are blessed.
Esperar com paciência
Os que esperam no Senhor renovam as forças. A paciência produz caráter, e o caráter produz esperança que não decepciona.
Trust in the Lord! Be confident—he will give you courage! Trust in the Lord!
Be still in God’s presence; wait patiently for him. Don’t be upset over people who prosper when they carry out their evil schemes.
Please listen to what I have to say in the morning, Lord. Every morning I put my requests to you and wait for your reply.
Since we’re hoping for what we haven’t yet seen, we wait for it patiently.
Remain cheerful in the hope you have, put up with the troubles that come, keep on praying.
The Lord is going to fight for you—you don’t need to do anything."
Paciência nas provações
O amor é paciente. A paciência é marca de maturidade espiritual e nos permite perseverar mesmo quando as circunstâncias são adversas.
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous. Love is not boastful. Love is not proud. Love does not act improperly, or insist on having its own way. Love is not argumentative and doesn’t keep a record of wrongs.
Let’s never tire of doing good, for we’ll reap a harvest at the proper time, if we don’t give up.
May the God who gives patience and encouragement help you to be in full agreement among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus,
Don’t think proudly of yourselves; be gentle and patient, showing tolerance to each other in love.
Since you are God’s special people, holy and dearly loved, adopt a sympathetic nature that is kind, humble, gentle, and patient.
Speak God’s word whether it is convenient or not, tell people where they’re going wrong, warn them, encourage them. Do this with a great deal of patient teaching.
Perseverança até o fim
Quem perseverar até o fim será salvo. O domínio próprio é maior que a conquista de uma cidade.
but those who hold out to the end will be saved.
So stay alert, because you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.
Better to be slow to anger than to be powerful, better to have self-control than to conquer a town.
If you’re slow to get angry, you’re very wise; but if you have a short fuse you glorify stupidity.
I am coming soon! Keep a tight grasp on what you have, so that no one takes your crown.
For his anger only lasts a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime. You may spend the night in tears, but happiness comes with the morning.
