You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies. (John 8:44)
And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.(2 Corinthians 11:14)
in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.(2 Corinthians 4:4)
The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ has come; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.(Revelation 12:9,10)
When anyone hears the word of the Kingdom and doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away that which has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown by the roadside. (Matthew 13:19)
Diante desse cenário, a instrução em 1 Pedro 5:8 pede sobriedade e constante discernimento:
Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.(1 Peter 5:8)
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. (John 14:6)
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: that he might destroy the works of the devil.(1 John 3:8)
Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.(James 4:7)
We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him. We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.(1 John 5:18,19)
