12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.2 "Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise),3 "that it may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth."

20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

22 Hearken to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

26 He who does violence to his father and chases away his mother is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.

20 If one curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in utter darkness.

4 If a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn their religious duty to their own family and make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God.

6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

6 And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart;7 and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

8 Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and reject not your mother's teaching;9 for they are a fair garland for your head, and pendants for your neck.

4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

24 He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.

7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

3 It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.4 Lo, sons are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.5 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one's youth. [ (Psalms 127:6) Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. ]

6 Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of sons is their fathers.

24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him.

1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.

11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent;12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

8 If any one does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his own family, he has disowned the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

15 And if you be unwilling to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

24 Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.

16 "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor shall the children be put to death for the fathers; every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
