His Death and Resurrection Predicted

From  then on Jesus began to point out to his disciples that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day

He said to them, "I am deeply grievedto the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with me."

he humbled himself by becoming obedient

to the point of death

even to death on cross

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death — that is, the devil   —  and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death

O sacrifício voluntário

Ninguém tirou a vida de Jesus — Ele a deu voluntariamente. Ele veio para servir e dar a sua vida em resgate por muitos.

This is why the Father loves me,because I lay down my lifeso that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to take it up again. I have received this command from my Father."

For even the Son of Mandid not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his lifeas a ransomfor many.",

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin  were looking for testimony against Jesus to put him to death but they could not find any.

But God proves  his own love for us  in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered  for you, leaving you an example that you should follow  in his steps. He did not commit sinand no deceitwas found in his mouth;,when he was insulted, he did not insult in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten but entrusted himself to the one who judges  justly. He himself bore our sins  in his body  on the tree so that, having died to sins we might live for righteousnessBy his wounds, you have been healed.

He was despised and rejected by men

a man of suffering who knew what sickness was

He was like someone people turned away from

he was despised, and we didn’t value him.

Yet he himself bore our sicknesses,

and he carried our pains

but we in turn regarded him stricken,

struck down by God and afflicted.

But he was pierced because of our rebellion

crushed because of our iniquities

punishment  for our peace was on him,

and we are healed by his wounds
