Paixão
A Bíblia nos chama a dominar as paixões e desejos da carne. O cristão é chamado a viver pelo Espírito, crucificando as obras da carne e buscando a santidade em tudo.
Crucificar a carne
Os que são de Cristo crucificaram a carne com suas paixões e concupiscências. O domínio próprio é fruto do Espírito Santo.
24 But they that {are} of the Christ have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts.
5 Put to death therefore your members which {are} upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil lust, and unbridled desire, which is idolatry.
4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour,5 (not in passionate desire, even as the nations who know not God,)
Tudo para a glória de Deus
Quer comamos, quer bebamos, tudo deve ser feito para a glória de Deus. Devemos fugir das paixões que guerreiam contra a alma.
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatever ye do, do all things to God's glory.
9 But if they have not control over themselves, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile lusts; for both their females changed the natural use into that contrary to nature;27 and in like manner the males also, leaving the natural use of the female, were inflamed in their lust towards one another; males with males working shame, and receiving in themselves the recompense of their error which was fit.
3 For the time shall be when they will not bear sound teaching; but according to their own lusts will heap up to themselves teachers, having an itching ear;4 and they will turn away their ear from the truth, and will have turned aside to fables.
3 Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask evilly, that ye may consume {it} in your pleasures.
