Paixão
A Bíblia nos chama a dominar as paixões e desejos da carne. O cristão é chamado a viver pelo Espírito, crucificando as obras da carne e buscando a santidade em tudo.
Crucificar a carne
Os que são de Cristo crucificaram a carne com suas paixões e concupiscências. O domínio próprio é fruto do Espírito Santo.
24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
5 Therefore put to death your members on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.
11 Beloved, I implore you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from the lusts of the flesh which war against the soul;
4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,5 not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God,
Tudo para a glória de Deus
Quer comamos, quer bebamos, tudo deve ser feito para a glória de Deus. Devemos fugir das paixões que guerreiam contra a alma.
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.
9 but if they are not exercising self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn [with passion].
26 For this reason God gave them up to shameful lusts, for even their women exchanged the natural use for that which is contrary to nature,27 and likewise also the men, having forsaken the natural use of the woman, were inflamed by their lust for one another, men with men, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error.
3 For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up for themselves teachers, tickling their ears,4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend [it] in [gratifying] your lusts.
