Paixão
A Bíblia nos chama a dominar as paixões e desejos da carne. O cristão é chamado a viver pelo Espírito, crucificando as obras da carne e buscando a santidade em tudo.
Crucificar a carne
Os que são de Cristo crucificaram a carne com suas paixões e concupiscências. O domínio próprio é fruto do Espírito Santo.
24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires.
5 So put to death your worldly impulses: sexual sin, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).
11 Dear friends, I urge you as aliens and exiles to keep on abstaining from the desires of the flesh that wage war against the soul.
4 each of you must know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,5 not with passion and lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;
Tudo para a glória de Deus
Quer comamos, quer bebamos, tudo deve ser feito para a glória de Deus. Devemos fugir das paixões que guerreiam contra a alma.
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything to the glory of God.
9 However, if they cannot control themselves, they should get married, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
26 For this reason, God gave them over to degrading passions. Even their females exchanged their natural sexual function for one that is unnatural.27 In the same way, their males also abandoned the natural sexual function of females and burned with lust for one another. Males committed indecent acts with males, and received in themselves the appropriate penalty for their perversion.
3 For the time will come when people will not put up with healthy doctrine but with itching ears will surround themselves with teachers who cater to their own needs.4 They will refuse to listen to the truth and will turn to myths.
3 You ask for something but do not get it because you ask for it for the wrong reason—for your own pleasure.
