Paixão
A Bíblia nos chama a dominar as paixões e desejos da carne. O cristão é chamado a viver pelo Espírito, crucificando as obras da carne e buscando a santidade em tudo.
Crucificar a carne
Os que são de Cristo crucificaram a carne com suas paixões e concupiscências. O domínio próprio é fruto do Espírito Santo.
24 Besides, they who are Christ's, have crucified the flesh with the passions and lusts.
5 Mortify, therefore, your members which are on the earth; fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and licentiousness, which is idolatry;
11 Beloved, I beseech you, as sojourners and travelers, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.
4 that every one of you should know how to possess his own body in sanctification and honor-5 not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God.
Tudo para a glória de Deus
Quer comamos, quer bebamos, tudo deve ser feito para a glória de Deus. Devemos fugir das paixões que guerreiam contra a alma.
31 Whether, then, you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
9 Yet, if they can not live continently, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to be in pain.
26 For this, God delivered them over to shameful passions; for even their females changed the natural use unto what is contrary to nature.27 In like manner, also, the males, leaving the natural use of the female, burned in their lust toward one another, males with males, working out that which is shameful, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.
3 For there will be a time when they will not endure wholesome doctrine; but, having itching ears, they will, according to their own lusts, heap up to themselves teachers:4 and they will, indeed, turn away their ears from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
3 You ask, and do not receive, because you ask wickedly, that you may spend upon your lusts.
