Paixão
A Bíblia nos chama a dominar as paixões e desejos da carne. O cristão é chamado a viver pelo Espírito, crucificando as obras da carne e buscando a santidade em tudo.
Crucificar a carne
Os que são de Cristo crucificaram a carne com suas paixões e concupiscências. O domínio próprio é fruto do Espírito Santo.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. affections: or, passions
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; immorality, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
4 That each one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;5 Not in the lust of passion, even as the Gentiles who know not God:
Tudo para a glória de Deus
Quer comamos, quer bebamos, tudo deve ser feito para a glória de Deus. Devemos fugir das paixões que guerreiam contra a alma.
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
9 But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
26 For this cause God gave them up to vile affections: for even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was due.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap up to themselves teachers, having itching ears;4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned to fables.
