God of All Comfort

3 *Blessed be the *God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and *God of all comfort, 4 *who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

God of All Comfort

3 *Blessed be the *God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and *God of all comfort, 4 *who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in *Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.*6 *If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. 7 Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you *share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

24 For he has not despised or abhorred

the affliction of *the afflicted,

and he has not *hidden his face from him,

but has heard, when he *cried to him.

18 The Lord is near to *the brokenhearted

and saves *the crushed in spirit.

and *his favor is for a lifetime.*

*Weeping may tarry for the night,

God Is Our Fortress

1 God is our *refuge and strength,

a very *present* help in *trouble.

22 *Cast your burden on the Lord,

and he will sustain you;

*he will never permit

the righteous to be moved.

8 You have kept count of my tossings;*

*put my tears in your bottle.

*Are they not in your book?

9 The Lord is *a stronghold for *the oppressed,

a stronghold in *times of trouble.

2 The Lord is my *rock and my *fortress and my deliverer,

my God, my *rock, in *whom I take refuge,

my *shield, and *the horn of my salvation, my *stronghold.

5 And *he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I *am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for *these words are trustworthy and true."

13 May the God of hope fill you with all *joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

2 *Do not be conformed to this world,* but be transformed by *the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may *discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.*

be not dismayed, for I am your God;

I will strengthen you, I will help you,

The Year of the Lord’s Favor

1 *The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,

because the Lord has *anointed me

to bring good news to the poor;*

he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim liberty to the captives,

and *the opening of the prison to those who are bound;*

2 *to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,

*and the day of vengeance of our God;

to comfort all who mourn;

3 to grant to those who mourn in Zion—

*to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,

*the oil of gladness instead of mourning,

the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;

*that they may be called oaks of righteousness,

the planting of the Lord, *that he may be glorified.*

13 As one whom his mother comforts,

so *I will comfort you;

you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

8 It is the Lord*who goes before you. He will be with you; *he will not leave you or forsake you. *Do not fear or be dismayed."

5 Keep your life *free from love of money, and *be content with what you have, for he has said, *"I will never leave you nor forsake you."

*he knows those who take refuge in him.

*a mighty one who will save;

*he will rejoice over you with gladness;

he will quiet you by his love;

he will exult over you with loud singing.

11 *For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare* and not for evil, *to give you a future and a hope.

17 Therefore, if anyone is *in Christ, he is *a new creation.**The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will *entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

6 *Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 *casting all your anxieties on him, because *he cares for you.

4 Even though I *walk through the valley of *the shadow of death,*

I will *fear no evil,

for *you are with me;

your *rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

that will I seek after:

that I may *dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

to gaze upon *the beauty of the Lord

and to inquire* in his temple.

5 For he will *hide me in his shelter

in the day of trouble;

he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;

he will *lift me high upon a rock.

50 This is *my comfort in my affliction,

that your promise *gives me life.

and those who mourn are lifted to safety.

29 Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, *there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and *for the gospel,30 who will not receive a hundredfold *now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, *with persecutions, and in *the age to come eternal life.

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another *Helper,*to be with you forever,17 even *the Spirit of truth, *whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and *will be*in you.

18 "I will not leave you as orphans; *I will come to you.
