A Bíblia define o papel do homem na família e na sociedade: líder servidor, provedor fiel, pai presente e marido amoroso, seguindo o exemplo de Cristo.
Marido e pai
O marido deve amar a esposa como Cristo amou a Igreja. O pai é chamado a criar os filhos na disciplina e instrução do Senhor.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her
Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and don’t be bitter toward them.
Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker partner, showing them honor as coheirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
Provedor e responsável
Quem não cuida dos seus é pior que o descrente. O homem deve trabalhar com diligência e prover para sua família com honra.
But if anyone does not provide for his own family, especially for his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
In fact, when we were with you, this is what we commanded you: "If anyone isn’t willing to work, he should not eat."
Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people,
An overseer, therefore, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, sensible, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not an excessive drinker, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy. He must manage his own household competently and have his children under control with all dignity.
Caráter e liderança
O homem de Deus é corajoso, íntegro e cheio do Espírito. Ele lidera pelo exemplo e guia sua casa nos caminhos do Senhor.
Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong.
For I have chosen him so that he will command his children and his house after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. This is how the Lord will fulfill to Abraham what he promised him."
