O papel do homem
A Bíblia define o papel do homem na família e na sociedade: líder servidor, provedor fiel, pai presente e marido amoroso, seguindo o exemplo de Cristo.
Marido e pai
O marido deve amar a esposa como Cristo amou a Igreja. O pai é chamado a criar os filhos na disciplina e instrução do Senhor.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not become bitter against them.
You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
Provedor e responsável
Quem não cuida dos seus é pior que o descrente. O homem deve trabalhar com diligência e prover para sua família com honra.
But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people,
An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, skillful in teaching, not overindulging in wine, not a bully, but gentle, not contentious, free from the love of money. O homem de Deus é corajoso, íntegro e cheio do Espírito. Ele lidera pelo exemplo e guia sua casa nos caminhos do Senhor.
Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
