O papel do homem
A Bíblia define o papel do homem na família e na sociedade: líder servidor, provedor fiel, pai presente e marido amoroso, seguindo o exemplo de Cristo.
Marido e pai
O marido deve amar a esposa como Cristo amou a Igreja. O pai é chamado a criar os filhos na disciplina e instrução do Senhor.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
Provedor e responsável
Quem não cuida dos seus é pior que o descrente. O homem deve trabalhar com diligência e prover para sua família com honra.
8 But if any provideth not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. house: or, kindred
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
23 And whatever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men;
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober minded, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; of good…: or, modest3 Not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; given…: or, ready to quarrel, and offer wrong, as one in wine4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
Caráter e liderança
O homem de Deus é corajoso, íntegro e cheio do Espírito. Ele lidera pelo exemplo e guia sua casa nos caminhos do Senhor.
13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, acquit yourselves like men, be strong.
19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
18 And be not drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
