Some people walked ahead of Jesus and others followed behind. They were all shouting,
"Hooray for the Son of David!
God bless the one who comes
in the name of the Lord.
Hooray for God
in heaven above!"
We’ll ask the Lord to save us!
We’ll sincerely ask the Lord
to let us win.
God bless the one who comes
in the name of the Lord!
We praise you from here
in the house of the Lord.
Everyone in Jerusalem,
celebrate and shout!
Your king has won a victory,
and he is coming to you.
He is humble
and rides on a donkey;
he comes on the colt
of a donkey.
We are now on our way to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses. They will sentence him to death, and then they will hand him over to foreigners who will make fun of him. They will beat him and nail him to a cross. But on the third day he will rise from death.
A paixão de Cristo
Jesus foi zombado, açoitado e crucificado. Ele orou no Getsêmani e entregou sua vida voluntariamente, dizendo: 'Está consumado!'
They stripped off Jesus' clothes and put a scarlet robe on him. They made a crown out of thorn branches and placed it on his head, and they put a stick in his right hand. The soldiers knelt down and pretended to worship him. They made fun of him and shouted, "Hey, you king of the Jews!"
Above his head they put a sign that told why he was nailed there. It read, "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews."
Jesus walked on a little way. Then he knelt down on the ground and prayed, "Father, if it is possible, don’t let this happen to me! Father, you can do anything. Don’t make me suffer by drinking from this cup. But do what you want, and not what I want."
Jesus shouted, "Father, I put myself in your hands!" Then he died.
After Jesus drank the wine, he said, "Everything is done!" He bowed his head and died.
A ressurreição gloriosa
Ele não está aqui — ressuscitou! O túmulo vazio é a prova de que a morte foi derrotada e Cristo vive para sempre.
The angel said to the women, "Don’t be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was nailed to a cross. He isn’t here! God has raised him to life, just as Jesus said he would. Come, see the place where his body was lying.
The man said, "Don’t be alarmed! You are looking for Jesus from Nazareth, who was nailed to a cross. God has raised him to life, and he isn’t here. You can see the place where they put his body.
Jesus isn’t here! He has been raised from death. Remember that while he was still in Galilee, he told you, ‘The Son of Man will be handed over to sinners who will nail him to a cross. But three days later he will rise to life.’ "
The disciple who got there first then went into the tomb, and when he saw it, he believed. At that time Peter and the other disciple did not know that the Scriptures said Jesus would rise to life.
