Páscoa
A Páscoa é a celebração suprema da redenção. Do cordeiro pascal no Egito ao Cordeiro de Deus que tira o pecado do mundo, ela aponta para o sacrifício e a vitória de Cristo.
A caminhada para a cruz
Jesus entrou em Jerusalém como Rei humilde, e a multidão o aclamou. Ele sabia do sofrimento que viria, mas caminhou em obediência até o fim.
Then the crowds who went in front and those who followed kept crying out, saying:
"Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!"
"Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem and the Son of the Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge and to crucify. And on the third day He will rise!"
A paixão de Cristo
Jesus foi zombado, açoitado e crucificado. Ele orou no Getsêmani e entregou sua vida voluntariamente, dizendo: 'Está consumado!'
They stripped Him and put a scarlet cloak on Him. They plaited a crown out of thorns and put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and kneeling before Him they would mock Him saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
And they put the charge against Him over His head in writing:
THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
And He said: "Abba (Father), all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me; yet not what I will, but what you will."
Then, after giving a loud shout, Jesus said, "Father, it is into your hands that I will commit my spirit." And having said this, He breathed out His spirit.
Then, when He had received the sour wine, Jesus said, "Paid in full!!" And bowing His head He dismissed His spirit.
A ressurreição gloriosa
Ele não está aqui — ressuscitou! O túmulo vazio é a prova de que a morte foi derrotada e Cristo vive para sempre.
Now the angel spoke up and said to the women: "Do not be afraid! I know that you are looking for the Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, because He is risen, just like He said! Come, see the place where the Lord was lying.
But he said to them: "Don't be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Natsarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He isn't here! See, the place where they laid Him.
He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He told you while still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of the Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ "
So then the other disciple went in too, the one who got to the tomb first; and he saw and believed. (For they did not yet know the Scripture, that He had to rise from among the dead.)
