The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed were crying out,
"Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!"
"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes. They will condemn him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked, flogged, and crucified. But on the third day he will rise again."
A paixão de Cristo
Jesus foi zombado, açoitado e crucificado. Ele orou no Getsêmani e entregou sua vida voluntariamente, dizendo: 'Está consumado!'
They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand, and kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
Over his head they placed the written charge against him, which read, "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews."
He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for yoʋ. Take this cup away from me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what yoʋ will."
Then Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Father, into yoʋr hands I commit my spirit." After saying this, he breathed his last breath.
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished." Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
A ressurreição gloriosa
Ele não está aqui — ressuscitou! O túmulo vazio é a prova de que a morte foi derrotada e Cristo vive para sempre.
Then the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who has been crucified. He is not here, for he is risen, just as he said. Come see the place where the Lord lay.
But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen; he is not here. Behold, this is the place where they laid him.
He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and on the third day rise again."
Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in. He saw and believed. (For they did not yet understand the Scripture that Jesus must rise from the dead.)
