Every one that practises sin practises also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.(1 John 3:4)

A universalidade do pecado: a condição humana

And we are all become as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have carried us away;(Isaiah 64:6)

Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law is knowledge of sin.(Romans 3:20)

for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;(Romans 3:23,24)

For the wages of sin is death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans 6:23)

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Every one that practises sin is the bondman of sin.(John 8:34)

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body to obey its lusts. Neither yield your members instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but yield yourselves to God as alive from among the dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under law but under grace. What then? should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Far be the thought. Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves bondmen for obedience, ye are bondmen to him whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But thanks be to God, that ye were bondmen of sin, but have obeyed from the heart the form of teaching into which ye were instructed. Now, having got your freedom from sin, ye have become bondmen to righteousness.(Romans 6:12-18)

What then? should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Far be the thought.(Romans 6:15)

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am fleshly, sold under sin. For that which I do, I do not own: for not what I will, this I do; but what I hate, this I practise. But if what I do not will, this I practise, I consent to the law that it is right. Now then it is no longer Ithat do it, but the sin that dwells in me.(Romans 7:14-17)

There is then now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death.(Romans 8:1,2)

He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.(Proverbs 28:13)

Who understandeth his errors? Purify me from secret faults.(Psalms 19:12)

Remember, Jehovah, thy tender mercies and thy loving-kindnesses; for they are from everlasting. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; according to thy loving-kindness remember thou me, for thy goodness' sake, Jehovah.(Psalms 25:6,7)

For thy name’s sake, O Jehovah, thou wilt indeed pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.(Psalms 25:11)

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered!(Psalms 32:1)

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity I covered not; I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Jehovah, and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.(Psalms 32:5)

Be gracious unto me, O God according to thy loving-kindness; according to the abundance of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me fully from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.(Psalms 51:1,2)

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in thy sight; that thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, be clear when thou judgest. Behold, in iniquity was I brought forth, and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou wilt have truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden part thou wilt make me to know wisdom.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear gladness and joy; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.(Psalms 51:4-9)

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not practise the truth.(1 John 1:6)

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.(1 John 1:8,9)

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.(Matthew 1:21)

Him who knew not sin he has made sin for us, that we might become God’s righteousness in him.(2 Corinthians 5:21)

thus the Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear to those that look for him the second time without sin for salvation.(Hebrews 9:28)

who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.(1 Peter 2:24)

He that practises sin is of the devil; for from the beginning the devil sins. To this end the Son of God has been manifested, that he might undo the works of the devil.(1 John 3:8)

We know that every one begotten of God does not sin, but he that has been begotten of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.(1 John 5:18)

Put to death therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil lust, and unbridled desire, which is idolatry.(Colossians 3:5)

Be angry, and do not sin; let not the sun set upon your wrath,(Ephesians 4:26)

But fornication and all uncleanness or unbridled lust, let it not be even named among you, as it becomes saints;(Ephesians 5:3)

and do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather also reprove them, for the things that are done by them in secret it is shameful even to say.(Ephesians 5:11,12)

For if ye forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father also will forgive you yours,(Matthew 6:14)

But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye?(Matthew 7:3)

But whosoever shall offend one of these little ones who believe in me, it were profitable for him that a great millstone had been hanged upon his neck and he be sunk in the depths of the sea.(Matthew 18:6)

But if thy brother sin against thee, go, reprove him between thee and him alone. If he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.(Matthew 18:15)

Brethren, if even a man be taken in some fault, ye who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of meekness, considering thyself lest thou also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfil the law of the Christ.(Galatians 6:1,2)

Out of the same mouth goes forth blessing and cursing. It is not right, my brethren, that these things should be thus.(James 3:10)

Adulteresses, know ye not that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore is minded to be the friend of the world is constituted enemy of God.(James 4:4)

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double-minded.(James 4:8)

To him therefore who knows how to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.(James 4:17)

Confess therefore your offences to one another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The fervent supplication of the righteous man has much power.(James 5:16)

but before all things having fervent love among yourselves, because love covers a multitude of sins;(1 Peter 4:8)

If thou doest well, will not thy countenance look up with confidence? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door; and unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.(Genesis 4:7)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, and standeth not in the way of sinners, and sitteth not in the seat of scorners;(Psalms 1:1)

Establish my steps in thy word and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.(Psalms 119:133)

He that walketh in integrity walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.(Proverbs 10:9)

The good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, brings forth good; and the wicked man out of the wicked, brings forth what is wicked: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.(Luke 6:45)

And Pilate went out again and says to them, Lo, I bring him out to you, that ye may know that I find in him no fault whatever. (Jesus therefore went forth without, wearing the crown of thorn, and the purple robe.) And he says to them, Behold the man! When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him they cried out saying, Crucify, crucify him. Pilate says to them, Take him ye and crucify him, for I find no fault in him.(John 19:4-6)

whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.(John 20:23)

Do ye not know that unrighteous persons shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who make women of themselves, nor who abuse themselves with men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor abusive persons, nor the rapacious, shall inherit the kingdom of God.(1 Corinthians 6:9,10)
