Poder de decisão
Deus nos deu o poder de escolher. A Bíblia mostra que nossas decisões têm consequências eternas e nos chama a escolher sabiamente — a vida, a fé e o caminho de Deus.
A responsabilidade de escolher
Escolhei hoje a quem servireis. Cada decisão molda nosso destino, e Deus nos convida a escolher o caminho da vida e da obediência.
If you are not willing to serve him, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors worshiped in Mesopotamia or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living. As for my family and me, we will serve the Lord."
Joshua told them, "You are your own witnesses to the fact that you have chosen to serve the Lord."
"Yes," they said, "we are witnesses."
"Now I, the Sovereign Lord, am telling you Israelites that I will judge each of you by what you have done. Turn away from all the evil you are doing, and don’t let your sin destroy you. Give up all the evil you have been doing, and get yourselves new minds and hearts. Why do you Israelites want to die? I do not want anyone to die," says the Sovereign Lord. "Turn away from your sins and live."
I know what you have done; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were either one or the other! But because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth!
Decisões e consequências
Deus retribuirá a cada um segundo as suas obras. As Escrituras nos alertam que a mornidão espiritual e a resistência ao Espírito têm consequências sérias.
For God will reward each of us according to what we have done. Some people keep on doing good, and seek glory, honor, and immortal life; to them God will give eternal life. Other people are selfish and reject what is right, in order to follow what is wrong; on them God will pour out his anger and fury.
"How stubborn you are!" Stephen went on to say. "How heathen your hearts, how deaf you are to God’s message! You are just like your ancestors: you too have always resisted the Holy Spirit!
Do not lose your courage, then, because it brings with it a great reward. You need to be patient, in order to do the will of God and receive what he promises. For, as the scripture says,
"Just a little while longer,
and he who is coming will come;
he will not delay.
My righteous people, however, will believe and live;
but if any of them turns back,
I will not be pleased with them."
We are not people who turn back and are lost. Instead, we have faith and are saved.
Decisão e fé
Decida com fé, entregue seus planos ao Senhor e aja com determinação. Deus guia os passos de quem se achega a Ele de coração.
People cast lots to learn God’s will, but God himself determines the answer.
People may plan all kinds of things, but the Lord's will is going to be done.
Ask the Lord to bless your plans, and you will be successful in carrying them out.
But their insults cannot hurt me
because the Sovereign Lord gives me help.
I brace myself to endure them.
I know that I will not be disgraced,
Whoever is willing to do what God wants will know whether what I teach comes from God or whether I speak on my own authority.
Then they will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them a single purpose in life: to honor me for all time, for their own good and the good of their descendants.
Peter said to them, "Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God’s gift, the Holy Spirit.
So then, submit yourselves to God. Resist the Devil, and he will run away from you. Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners! Purify your hearts, you hypocrites!
