Hidden Treasure

44 "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from *joy over it he goes and sells everything that he has, and buys that field.

A Costly Pearl

45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls,46 and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold everything that he had and bought it.

The Mustard Seed

31 He presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a person took and sowed in his field;32 and this is smaller than all the other seeds, but when it is fully grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the sky come and nest in its branches."

The Leaven

33 He spoke another parable to them: "The kingdom of heaven is like *leaven, which a woman took and hid in three *sata of flour until it was all leavened."

Weeds among Wheat

24 Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven *is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.25 But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed *weeds among the wheat, and left.26 And when the *wheat sprouted and produced grain, then the weeds also became evident.27 And the slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? *How then does it have weeds?’28 And he said to them, ‘*An enemy has done this!’ The slaves *said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’29 But he *said, ‘No; while you are gathering up the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them.30 Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and at the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather up the weeds and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn." ’ "

The Weeds Explained

36 Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him and said, "Explain to us the parable of the *weeds of the field." 37 And He said, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,38 and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are the sons of the evil one;39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the *end of the age; and the reapers are angels.40 So just as the weeds are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the *end of the age.41 The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom *all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness,42 and they will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.43 Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. The one who has ears, *let him hear.

A Dragnet

47 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered fish of every kind;48 and when it was filled, they pulled it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away.49 So it will be at the *end of the age: the angels will come forth and remove the wicked from among the righteous,50 and they will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

3 "*Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5 "Blessed are the *gentle, for they will inherit the earth.

6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

10 "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in this same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Rank in the Kingdom

1 At that *time the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" 2 And He called a child to Himself and set him among them, 3 and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you *change and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.4 So whoever will humble himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

14 But Jesus said, "*Leave the children alone, and do not *forbid them to come to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

23 And Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God."25 When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, "Then who can be saved?" 26 And looking at them, Jesus said to them, "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

5 Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters: did God not choose the poor *of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?

18 But the *saints of the Highest One will receive the kingdom and take possession of the kingdom forever, *for all ages to come.’

21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

19 Therefore, whoever nullifies one of the least of these commandments, and teaches *others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever *keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 "For I say to you that unless your righteousness far surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

The Lord’s Prayer

9 "Pray, then, in this way:

‘Our Father, who is in heaven,

*Hallowed be Your name.

10 ‘*Your kingdom come.

Your will be done,

*On earth as it is in heaven.

The Preaching of John the Baptist

1 Now in those days John the Baptist **came, *preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, 2 "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."

17 From that time Jesus began to *preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."

7 And as you go, *preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’

11 And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and *recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;

11 Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has been treated violently, and violent men take it by force.

28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s *show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is a consuming fire.

11 They will speak of the glory of Your kingdom,

And talk of Your might,

12 To make known to the sons of mankind *Your mighty acts,

And the glory of the majesty of *Your kingdom.

13 Your kingdom is *an everlasting kingdom,

And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

*The Lord is faithful in His words,

And holy in all His works.

10 Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choice of you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.

18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will *bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to *Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

32 *Do not be afraid, little flock, because your Father has chosen to give you the kingdom.

5 For this you know with certainty, that no sexually immoral or *impure or greedy person, which *amounts to an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
