Pedro e Jesus: da fraqueza à restauração no ministério

A relação entre Jesus e Pedro

Pedro foi o líder dos doze apóstolos e o discípulo mais próximo de Jesus durante seu ministério terreno. Essa convivência foi marcada por fé impulsiva, quedas dolorosas e uma restauração completa que transformou um pescador comum na principal voz da igreja primitiva.

A fé posta à prova sobre as águas

Pedro foi o único discípulo a sair do barco no meio da tempestade para caminhar até Jesus, mas afundou assim que olhou para a força do vento. O relato em Mateus 14:28-31 mostra que Cristo não o deixou perecer na fraqueza: estendeu a mão de imediato, cobrando confiança firme em lugar da dúvida.

28 Kefa [pebble] answered and said to him: ‘My Adon [Lord - Kurios of the earth], if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.

29 Yeshua [God is Salvation] said to him: "Come". So Kefa [pebble] came down from the boat, walked on the sea, and came to Yeshua [God is Salvation].

30 But when he saw the strength of the wind he feared exceedingly and as he began to sink cried out and said: ‘My Adon [Lord - Kurios of the earth], save me’.

31 Immediately Yeshua [God is Salvation] stretched out his hand, took him, and said to him: "Man of little faith, why did you doubt?"(Gosel 14:28-31)

A negação no pátio e a dor do arrependimento

Mesmo depois de prometer fidelidade até a morte, Pedro cedeu ao medo e negou qualquer vínculo com o Mestre na noite da prisão. Como registra Lucas 22:54-62, o olhar de Jesus após a terceira negação desfez a autoconfiança de Pedro, levando o apóstolo a sair dali em pranto amargo.

54 Then took they him, and led [him], and brought him into the high priest’s house. And Kefa [pebble] followed afar off.

55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Kefa [pebble] sat down among them.

56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, youi are also of them. And Kefa [pebble] said, Man, I am not.

59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a tthis [fellow] also was with him: for he is a Galilaean [circle].

60 And Kefa [pebble] said, Man, I know not what youi say. And immediately, while he yet spoke, the cock crew.

61 And the Lord - Kurios turned, and looked upon Kefa [pebble]. And Kefa [pebble] remembered the word of the Lord - Kurios, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, youi shall deny me thrice.

62 And Kefa [pebble] went out, and wept bitterly.(Luke 22:54-62)

A restauração à beira do lago

Depois da ressurreição, Jesus procurou Pedro na praia da Galileia e substituiu as três negações por três perguntas sobre amor. Em João 21:15-17, Cristo encerrou a culpa do discípulo e entregou a ele a tarefa de pastorear e alimentar o rebanho com humildade.

15 So when they had dined, Yeshua [God is Salvation] says to Shim’on [he has heard] Kefa [pebble], Shim’on [he has heard], [son] of Yochanan [dove], love youi me more than these? He says unto him, Yes, Lord - Kurios; youi know that I love youi. He says unto him, Feed my lambs.

16 He says to him again the second time, Shim’on [he has heard], [son] of Yochanan [dove], love youi me? He says unto him, Yes, Lord - Kurios; youi know that I love youi. He says unto him, Feed my sheep.

17 He says unto him the third time, Shim’on [he has heard], [son] of Yochanan [dove], love youi me? Kefa [pebble] was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest youi me? And he said unto him, Lord - Kurios, youi know all things; youi know that I love youi. Yeshua [God is Salvation] says unto him, Feed my sheep.(John 21:15-17)

Da fraqueza à liderança pública

A transformação operada por Jesus em Pedro ficou visível quando o apóstolo se levantou no dia de Pentecostes. O homem que antes temera a pergunta de uma criada pregou abertamente às multidões de Jerusalém em Atos 2, demonstrando que a graça de Cristo capacita quem reconhece os próprios limites.
