Quem é o Salvador segundo a Bíblia

Na Bíblia, o Salvador é Jesus Cristo, que resgata a humanidade da condenação do pecado e restaura o relacionamento com Deus. Essa salvação não decorre de esforço moral ou mérito humano, mas da iniciativa do próprio Deus revelada nas Escrituras.

No Antigo Testamento, o Senhor afirma que não há outro libertador espiritual para o seu povo:

4 Yet I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt. You shall know no other gods but me. None can save you except me.(Hosea 13:4)

O cumprimento dessa promessa acontece na encarnação. Ao anunciar o nascimento de Jesus aos pastores nos campos de Belém, o anjo confirma que o libertador esperado havia chegado:

11 The Savior has been born to you today, here in David’s city. He is the Messiah, the Lord.(Luke 2:11)

Para realizar esse resgate, Cristo não se apegou aos privilégios de sua divindade, mas assumiu a fragilidade humana e obedeceu até a morte:

6 Though in his nature he was always God, he wasn’t concerned to cling onto his equality with God. 7 Instead he emptied himself, taking the nature of a servant, becoming like a human being. 8 Coming in human form, humbling himself, he submitted himself to death—even death on a cross.(Philippians 2:6-8)

Como a morte de Cristo realiza o resgate

A salvação bíblica responde a uma necessidade universal: a humanidade está afastada de Deus pelo pecado e incapaz de pagar a própria dívida espiritual:

23 We have all sinned, and we fall far short of God’s glorious ideal. 24 Yet through the free gift of his grace, God makes us right through Christ Jesus who sets us free.(Romans 3:23,24)

A libertação desse estado de escravidão exigiu um resgate que prata e ouro não podiam custear:

18 You already know that you were not set free from your pointless way of living that you inherited from your forefathers by things that don’t have lasting value, like silver or gold. 19 You were set free by the costly blood of Christ, who was like a lamb with no flaw or defect.(1 Peter 1:18,19)

7 Through him we gain salvation through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins as a result of his priceless grace(Ephesians 1:7)

Na cruz, a morte de Jesus atuou como propiciação — o sacrifício que reconcilia o pecador com Deus, transformando antigos inimigos em herdeiros da reconciliação:

2 Through him our sins are forgiven—and not only our sins, but those of the whole world.(1 John 2:2)

10 This is love! It’s not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and he sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven.(1 John 4:10)

10 While we were his enemies, God made us his friends through the death of his Son, and so we can be absolutely sure that he will save us through the life of his Son.(Romans 5:10)

Essa redenção atinge a vida concreta de quem crê, fundamentando a fé no amor prático demonstrado na cruz:

20 I’ve been crucified with Christ— so it’s no longer I who lives, but it is Christ living in me. The life I now live in this body, I live by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me, and who gave himself for me.(Galatians 2:20)

A ressurreição e a salvação eterna

O plano da salvação não terminou no sepulcro. A vitória de Cristo sobre a morte é o selo de que o sacrifício foi aceito pelo Pai:

5 The angel told the women, "Don’t be afraid! I know you’re looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He’s not here. He’s risen from the dead, just as he said he would. Come and see where the Lord was lying.(Matthew 28:5,6)

22 God has looked after me so I can stand here today as a witness to everyone, both to ordinary people and to those who are important. I am only repeating what Moses and the prophets said would happen— 23 how the Messiah had to suffer, and that by being the first to rise from the dead he would announce the light of God’s salvation to both Jews and foreigners."(Acts 26:22,23)

Essa certeza da intervenção definitiva de Deus já havia sido antecipada por Jó em meio à sua aflição:

25 I know my Redeemer is alive, and that he shall finally take the stand for me on the earth.(Job 19:25)

Ressurreto e exaltado, Jesus é o mediador definitivo entre Deus e os seres humanos, atuando continuamente em favor daqueles que se achegam a Ele:

9 When his experience was complete, he became the source of eternal salvation to everyone who does what he says,(Hebrews 5:9)

25 As a result he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, living always to plead their case on their behalf.(Hebrews 7:25)

15 This is why he is the mediator of a new agreed relationship. Since a death has occurred to set them free from the sins committed under the first agreed relationship, now those who are called can receive the promise of an eternal inheritance.(Hebrews 9:15)

2 We should keep on looking to Jesus, the one who begins and completes our trust in God. Because of the joy ahead of him Jesus endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.(Hebrews 12:2)
