Santa ceia
And while they were eating, Jesus having taken the bread, and having blessed, broke, and was giving [it] to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat, this is My body"; and having taken the cup, and having given thanks, He gave to them, saying, "Drink of it—all; for this is My blood of the New Covenant, that is being poured out for many, for forgiveness of sins;
And as they are eating, Jesus having taken bread, having blessed, broke, and gave to them, and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." And having taken the cup, having given thanks, He gave to them, and they drank of it—all; and He said to them, "This is My blood of the New Covenant, which is being poured out for many; truly I say to you that I may drink no more of the produce of the vine until that day when I may drink it new in the Kingdom of God."
And having taken bread, having given thanks, He broke and gave to them, saying, "This is My body, that is being given for you, do this in remembrance of Me." In like manner, also, the cup after the dining, saying, "This cup [is] the New Covenant in My blood, that is being poured forth for you.
O significado espiritual
A Ceia é participação no corpo e no sangue de Cristo. Jesus ensinou que quem come de sua carne e bebe de seu sangue tem a vida eterna.
I AM the living bread that came down out of Heaven; if anyone may eat of this bread he will live—throughout the age; and the bread also that I will give is My flesh, that I will give for the life of the world."
Jesus, therefore, said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, if you may not eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and may not drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves; he who is eating My flesh, and is drinking My blood, has continuous life, and I will raise him up in the last day; for My flesh is truly food, and My blood is truly drink; he who is eating My flesh, and is drinking My blood, remains in Me, and I in him. According as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, he also who is eating Me, even that one will live because of Me; this is the bread that came down out of Heaven; not as your fathers ate the manna, and died; he who is eating this bread will live—throughout the age."
and having given thanks, He broke, and said, "Take, eat, this is My body that is being broken for you; do this—to the remembrance of Me." In like manner also the cup after the supping, saying, "This cup is the New Covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you may drink [it]—to the remembrance of Me"; for as often as you may eat this bread, and may drink this cup, you show forth the death of the LORD—until He may come; so that whoever may eat this bread or may drink the cup of the LORD unworthily, he will be guilty of the body and blood of the LORD: and let a man be proving himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and let him drink of the cup;
for as often as you may eat this bread, and may drink this cup, you show forth the death of the LORD—until He may come;
A prática da Igreja
Desde os primeiros cristãos, a Ceia do Senhor é parte fundamental da vida comunitária da Igreja, celebrada com reverência e exame de consciência.
and they were continuing steadfastly in the teaching of the apostles, and the fellowship, and the breaking of the bread, and the prayers.
And on the first [day] of the weeks, the disciples having been gathered together to break bread, Paul was discoursing to them, about to depart on the next day, he was also continuing the discourse until midnight,
And it came to pass, in His reclining with them, having taken the bread, He blessed, and having broken, He was giving to them,
so that whoever may eat this bread or may drink the cup of the LORD unworthily, he will be guilty of the body and blood of the LORD: and let a man be proving himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and let him drink of the cup; for he who is eating and drinking unworthily, he eats and drinks judgment to himself—not discerning the body of the LORD.
