Seguir a Jesus é o convite mais transformador da Bíblia. Jesus chamou pescadores, cobradores de impostos e pessoas comuns para deixar tudo e segui-lo. Esse chamado continua vivo hoje.
O chamado de Jesus
Jesus disse: 'Segue-me'. Esse convite simples e poderoso mudou a vida de pescadores, publicanos e pessoas comuns ao longo da história.
"Follow me," he told them, "and I will make you fish forpeople."Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, "Follow me," and he got up and followed him.
The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. He found Philip and told him, "Follow me."
As they were traveling on the road someone said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go."
Jesus told him, "Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."Then he said to another, "Follow me."
"Lord," he said, "first let me go bury my father."
But he told him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and spread the news of the kingdom of God."
Another said, "I will follow you, Lord, but first let me go and say good-bye to those at my house."
But Jesus said to him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."
O custo do discipulado
Seguir a Jesus exige renúncia. É preciso tomar a cruz diariamente, deixar tudo para trás e amar a Cristo acima de qualquer outro vínculo.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
"If anyone comes to meand does not hatehis own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters — yes, and even his own life — he cannot be my disciple.Whoever does not bear his own crossand come after me cannot be my disciple.
Peter began to tell him, "Look, we have left everything and followed you."
"Truly I tell you," Jesus said, "there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or fatheror children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the gospel,who will not receive a hundred timesmore, now at this time— houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions— and eternal lifein the age to come.But many who are first will be last, and the last first."
Caminhar com Cristo
Quem segue a Jesus não anda em trevas, mas tem a luz da vida. Ele nos convida a crescer nele e a servir como Ele serviu.
Jesus spoke to them again: "I amthe lightof the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life."
If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servantalso will be.If anyone serves me, the Father will honorhim.
For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He did not commit sin, and no deceitwas found in his mouth;,when he was insulted, he did not insult in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.
But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head — Christ.
You are to practice my ordinances and you are to keep my statutes by following them; I am the Lord your God.
