Seguir a Jesus é o convite mais transformador da Bíblia. Jesus chamou pescadores, cobradores de impostos e pessoas comuns para deixar tudo e segui-lo. Esse chamado continua vivo hoje.
O chamado de Jesus
Jesus disse: 'Segue-me'. Esse convite simples e poderoso mudou a vida de pescadores, publicanos e pessoas comuns ao longo da história.
Jesus said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." So they immediately left their nets and followed him.
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax booth. Jesus said to him, "Follow me," so Matthew rose and followed him.
On the next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."
As they were going along the road, someone said to him, "I will follow yoʋ wherever yoʋ go, Lord." Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." Then Jesus said to another man, "Follow me." But the man said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead. But yoʋ go and proclaim the kingdom of God." Still another said, "I will follow yoʋ, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to my family." But Jesus said to him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."
O custo do discipulado
Seguir a Jesus exige renúncia. É preciso tomar a cruz diariamente, deixar tudo para trás e amar a Cristo acima de qualquer outro vínculo.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone wants to be one of my disciples, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not bear his own cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.
Peter began to say to him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed yoʋ." Jesus answered, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, father, mother, wife, children, or fields, for my sake and for the sake of the gospel, who will not receive now in this age a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, 12 ¦ fathers, mothers 𝔐9 ANT PCKmothers, children, and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first."
Caminhar com Cristo
Quem segue a Jesus não anda em trevas, mas tem a luz da vida. Ele nos convida a crescer nele e a servir como Ele serviu.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will certainly not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
If anyone wants to serve me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him."
For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving an example so that you could follow in his footsteps. He committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, that is, Christ.
