A segunda vinda de Cristo é a esperança suprema da Igreja. Jesus prometeu que voltará com poder e grande glória para julgar os vivos e os mortos e estabelecer seu Reino eterno.
A promessa do retorno
Jesus prometeu voltar. Os anjos declararam que Ele virá da mesma forma como ascendeu. A Igreja aguarda esse dia glorioso com expectativa.
"Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven."

Then they will deliver you over to be persecuted and killed, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray and hate one another, and many false prophets will arise and deceive many.
Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
For at that time there will be great tribulation, unseen from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again. If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be cut short.
At that time, if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is!’ do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive even the elect, if that were possible. See, I have told you in advance.

The Return of the Son of Man

A Tree and Its Fruit
Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

Witnessing to All Nations
So be on your guard. You will be delivered over to the councils and beaten in the synagogues. On My account you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all the nations.
Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise against their parents and have them put to death. You will be hated by everyone because of My name, but the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.
There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various places, along with fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

The Lesson of the Fig Tree
Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branches become tender and sprout leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you will know that He is near, right at the door.

The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and sober, so that you can pray.
Final Blessings and Instructions
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will sustain you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God’s Grace Brings Salvation

And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, who is and was and is to come — the Almighty.
I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
And now, little children, remain in Christ, so that when He appears, we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.
