If it were not so, would I have told you that *I go to prepare a place for you?*3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you *to myself, that *where I am you may be also.

3 As he sat on *the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him *privately, saying, "Tell us, *when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your *coming and of *the end of the age?" 4 And Jesus answered them, *"See that no one leads you astray.5 For *many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am *the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you *are not alarmed, for this *must take place, but the end is not yet.

9 "Then *they will deliver you up *to tribulation and *put you to death, and *you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake.10 And then many will fall away*and *betray one another and hate one another.11 And many *false prophets will arise *and lead many astray.

12 And because lawlessness will be increased, *the love of many will grow cold.13 *But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom *will be proclaimed throughout the whole world *as a testimony *to all nations, and *then the end will come.

21 For then there will be *great tribulation, *such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for *the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

23 *Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it.24 For *false christs and *false prophets will arise and *perform great signs and wonders, *so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.25 See, *I have told you beforehand.

A Tree and Its Fruit

15 *"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are *ravenous wolves.

8 For *nation will rise against nation, and *kingdom against kingdom. There will be *earthquakes in various places; there will be *famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains.

9 *"But *be on your guard. For they will deliver you over to councils, and you will be beaten *in synagogues, and you will stand before *governors and *kings for my sake, *to bear witness before them.10 And the gospel must first be proclaimed *to all nations.

12 *And brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death.13 *And you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. *But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

The Coming of the Son of Man

29 "Immediately after *the tribulation of those days *the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and *the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.30 Then *will appear in heaven *the sign of the Son of Man, and then *all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and *they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven *with power and great glory.31 And *he will send out his angels with a loud *trumpet call, and they will *gather *his elect from *the four winds, *from one end of heaven to the other.

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

32 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, *at the very gates.

27 *For the Son of Man is going to come with *his angels in the glory of his Father, and *then he will repay each person according to what he has done.

The Coming of the Son of Man

25 "And *there will be signs in sun and moon *and stars, and on the earth *distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves,26 people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For *the powers of the heavens will be shaken.27 And then they will see *the Son of Man coming in a cloud *with power and great glory.28 Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and *raise your heads, because *your redemption is drawing near."

Watch Yourselves

34 "But watch yourselves *lest *your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and *cares of this life, and *that day come upon you suddenly *like a trap.35 For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.36 But *stay awake at all times, *praying that you may *have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and *to stand before the Son of Man."

7 *The end of all things is at hand; therefore *be self-controlled and sober-minded *for the sake of your prayers.

Children of God

28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that *when he appears *we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his *coming.
