A segunda vinda de Cristo é a esperança suprema da Igreja. Jesus prometeu que voltará com poder e grande glória para julgar os vivos e os mortos e estabelecer seu Reino eterno.
A promessa do retorno
Jesus prometeu voltar. Os anjos declararam que Ele virá da mesma forma como ascendeu. A Igreja aguarda esse dia glorioso com expectativa.
who also said, "Men, Galileans, why do you stand gazing into the sky? This Jesus who was received up from you into Heaven, will so come in what manner you saw Him going on to Heaven."
and as they were looking steadfastly to the sky in His going on, then, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing, who also said, "Men, Galileans, why do you stand gazing into the sky? "Do not let your heart be troubled, believe in God, believe also in Me; in the house of My Father are many rooms; and if not, I would have told you; I go on to prepare a place for you; and if I go on and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you to Myself, that where I am you also may be;

Os sinais dos tempos
Jesus descreveu os sinais que precederão sua volta: falsos profetas, guerras, fome, terremotos e tribulação. Devemos discernir os tempos sem nos alarmar.
And when He is sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came near to Him by Himself, saying, "Tell us, when will these be? And what [is] the sign of Your coming, and of the full end of the age?" And Jesus answering said to them, "Take heed that no one may lead you astray, for many will come in My Name, saying, I am the Christ, and they will lead many astray, and you will begin to hear of wars, and reports of wars; see, do not be troubled, for it is necessary for all [these] to come to pass, but the end is not yet.
then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations because of My Name; and then will many be stumbled, and they will deliver up one another, and will hate one another. And many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray;
and because of the abounding of the lawlessness, the love of the many will become cold; but he who endured to the end, he will be saved;
and this good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world, for a testimony to all the nations, and then will the end arrive.
for there will then be great tribulation, such as was not from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor may be. And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but because of the chosen will those days be shortened.
Then if anyone may say to you, Behold, here [is] the Christ! Or, Here! You may not believe; for there will arise false Christs, and false prophets, and they will give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, also the chosen. Behold, I told you beforehand.

for nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles; these [are the] beginning of travails.
And take heed to yourselves, for they will deliver you up to Sanhedrins, and to synagogues, you will be beaten, and before governors and kings you will be set for My sake, for a testimony to them; and to all the nations it is first necessary that the good news be proclaimed.
And brother will deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children will rise up against parents, and will put them to death, and you will be hated by all because of My Name, but he who has endured to the end—he will be saved.
also great shakings, and there will be famines and pestilences in every place; also there will be fearful things and great signs from the sky;
A vinda gloriosa
Cristo virá nas nuvens com poder e grande glória, enviará seus anjos e reunirá seus escolhidos dos quatro ventos.
And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; and then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in the sky; and then will all the tribes of the earth strike the breast, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of Heaven, with power and much glory; and He will send His messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His chosen from the four winds, from the ends of the heavens to the ends thereof.
And from the fig tree learn the allegory: when its branch may have already become tender, and it may put forth the leaves, you know that summer [is] near, so also you, when you may see all these, you know that it is near—at the doors.
For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of His Father, with His messengers, and then He will reward each according to his work.
And there will be signs in sun, and moon, and stars, and on the earth distress of nations with perplexity, sea and wave roaring; men fainting at heart from fear, and expectation of the things coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud, with power and much glory; and these things beginning to happen, bend yourselves back, and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

because the LORD Himself, with a shout, with the voice of a chief-messenger, and with the trumpet of God, will come down from Heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are living, who are remaining over, will be snatched up together with them in [the] clouds to meet the LORD in [the] air, and so we will always be with the LORD; so, then, comfort one another with these words.
Vigilância e preparo
Ninguém sabe o dia nem a hora. Jesus nos ordena a vigiar, orar e estar prontos, pois Ele virá quando menos esperamos.
Watch therefore, because you have not known in what hour your Lord comes;

because of this also you, become ready, because in what hour you do not think, the Son of Man comes.
And take heed to yourselves lest your hearts may be weighed down with carousing, and drunkenness, and anxieties of life, and suddenly that day may come on you, for it will come as a snare on all those dwelling on the face of all the earth, watch, then, in every season, praying that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
Now the end of all things has come near; be sober-minded, then, and be sober in [your] prayers.
and may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved, unblameably at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;
so that you are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who also will confirm you to the end—unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;
A esperança bendita
A aguardamos a bendita esperança e a manifestação da glória do nosso grande Deus e Salvador Jesus Cristo.
For the saving grace of God has appeared to all men, teaching us, that denying the impiety and the worldly desires, we may live soberly, and righteously, and piously in the present age, waiting for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to Himself a special people, zealous of good works.
having been confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you, will complete [it] until [the] day of Jesus Christ,
and do not make the Holy Spirit of God sorrowful, in which you were sealed to [the] day of redemption.
so also the Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, apart from a sin-offering, for salvation to those waiting for Him!
and may we consider to provoke one another to love and to good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as [is] a custom of some, but exhorting, and so much the more as you see the Day coming near.
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and end, says the LORD, who is, and who was, and who is coming—the Almighty."
Behold, I come quickly, be holding fast that which you have, that no one may receive your garland.
And do not let this one thing be concealed from you, beloved, that one day with the LORD [is] as one thousand years and one thousand years as one day;
And now, little children, remain in Him, so that when He may have appeared, we may have boldness, and may not be ashamed before Him, at His coming;
