I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life

1 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house there are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told *you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 *18 ¦ And if I go to prepare a place for you, 𝔐9 ¦ And if I go and prepare a place for you, 𝔐5 ANT CT HF PCK TRSo when I go, it is to prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.

12 "Behold, I am coming quickly, and my reward is with me, to repay each person according to their works.

Signs of the End of the Age

3 Later, as Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately and said, "Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign of yoʋr coming and of the end of the age?" 4 Jesus answered them, "Make sure no one leads you astray. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6 You will *hear of wars and rumors of wars. Do not be alarmed, for *all these things must take place, but the end is not yet.

9 "Then they will hand you over to be tortured and will put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of my name. 10 Many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. 11 Many false prophets will rise up and lead many astray.

12 Because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold, 13 but he who endures to the end will be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

21 For at that time there will be a great tribulation unlike any other from the beginning of the world until now, and it will never be equaled again. 22 If those days had not been cut short, no flesh would be saved. But for the sake of the chosen those days will be cut short.

23 If anyone says to you at that time, ‘Behold, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Here he is!’ do not believe him. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so *as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen. 25 Behold, I have told you in advance.

Beware of False Prophets

15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

8 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, along with famines *and riots. These are the *18 ¦ beginning 𝔐7 CTbeginnings of the labor pains.

9 "You must watch out for *yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in *synagogues. For my sake you will even be *set before governors and kings as witnesses to them. 10 And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations.

12 Brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise up against their parents and have them put to death. 13 You will be hated by all because of my name, but he who endures to the end will be saved.

11 There will be great *earthquakes in various places, along with *famines and plagues. There will also be terrifying sights and great signs from heaven.

The Coming of the Son of Man

29 "But immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the heavens, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather together his chosen from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

32 "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branches become tender and put out leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the very gates.

27 For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.

The Coming of the Son of Man

25 "There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars, and on the earth there will be distress among the nations as they are perplexed by the roaring sea and the surging waves. 26 People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 So when these things begin to take place, stand tall and lift up your heads, for your redemption is near."

And so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Watch Yourselves

34 "Watch yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and that day come upon you *suddenly. 35 For it will come like a trap upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 *Therefore stay alert at all times, praying that you may *be considered worthy to escape *everything that will take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."

7 The end of all things has drawn near. Therefore be alert and sober-minded for the sake of *your prayers.

23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Children of God

28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he is revealed we may have confidence and not shrink back from him in shame when he comes back.
