Temor do Senhor
O temor do Senhor é o princípio da sabedoria. Não se trata de medo, mas de reverência profunda, respeito e admiração diante da santidade e grandeza de Deus.
O princípio da sabedoria
A Escritura afirma que temer ao Senhor é o primeiro passo para a verdadeira sabedoria. Quem teme a Deus discerne o certo e aprende a viver com prudência.
10 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all they that do {his precepts}: his praise abideth for ever.

33 The fear of Jehovah is the discipline of wisdom, and before honour {goeth} humility.

9 The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of Jehovah are truth, they are righteous altogether:10 They are more precious than gold, yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey and the dropping of the honeycomb.11 Moreover, by them is thy servant enlightened; in keeping them there is great reward.

Quem teme ao Senhor encontra vida longa, provisão e proteção. O temor de Deus nos guarda do mal e nos conduz à humildade.
4 The reward of humility {and} the fear of Jehovah is riches, and honour, and life.
27 The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Vivendo no temor do Senhor
Temer ao Senhor é obedecer seus mandamentos, andar em seus caminhos e amá-lo de todo coração. Essa reverência se expressa em justiça e integridade.
4 Ye shall walk after Jehovah your God, and ye shall fear him, and his commandments shall ye keep, and his voice shall ye hear; and ye shall serve him, and unto him shall ye cleave.
6 and thou shalt keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
11 Serve Jehovah with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
11 Come, ye sons, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.12 What man is he that desireth life, {and} loveth days, that he may see good?13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile;14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
7 And now, let the terror of Jehovah be upon you; be careful what ye do, for there is no iniquity with Jehovah, nor respect of persons, nor taking of presents.
14 Thou shalt not revile a deaf person, and thou shalt not put a stumbling-block before a blind one; but thou shalt fear thy God: I am Jehovah.
17 And ye shall not oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God; for I am Jehovah your God.
35 And if thy brother grow poor, and he be fallen into decay beside thee, then thou shalt relieve him, {be he} stranger or sojourner, that he may live beside thee.36 Thou shalt take no usury nor increase of him; and thou shalt fear thy God; that thy brother may live beside thee.
4 But I say to you, my friends, Fear not those who kill the body and after this have no more that they can do.5 But I will shew you whom ye shall fear: Fear him who after he has killed has authority to cast into hell; yea, I say to you, Fear *him*.
