Temor do Senhor
O temor do Senhor é o princípio da sabedoria. Não se trata de medo, mas de reverência profunda, respeito e admiração diante da santidade e grandeza de Deus.
O princípio da sabedoria
A Escritura afirma que temer ao Senhor é o primeiro passo para a verdadeira sabedoria. Quem teme a Deus discerne o certo e aprende a viver com prudência.
The way to become wise is to honor the Lord;
he gives sound judgment to all who obey his commands.
He is to be praised forever.
To be wise you must first have reverence for the Lord. If you know the Holy One, you have understanding.
Reverence for the Lord is an education in itself. You must be humble before you can ever receive honors.
God said to us humans,
"To be wise, you must have reverence for the Lord.
To understand, you must turn from evil."
Reverence for the Lord is good;
it will continue forever.
The judgments of the Lord are just;
they are always fair.
They are more desirable than the finest gold;
they are sweeter than the purest honey.
They give knowledge to me, your servant;
I am rewarded for obeying them.
Bênçãos do temor
Quem teme ao Senhor encontra vida longa, provisão e proteção. O temor de Deus nos guarda do mal e nos conduz à humildade.
Obey the Lord, be humble, and you will get riches, honor, and a long life.
Obey the Lord, and you will live longer. The wicked die before their time.
Do you want to avoid death? Reverence for the Lord is a fountain of life.
Be loyal and faithful, and God will forgive your sin. Obey the Lord and nothing evil will happen to you.
Always obey the Lord and you will be happy. If you are stubborn, you will be ruined.
Find out for yourself how good the Lord is.
Happy are those who find safety with him.
Honor the Lord, all his people;
those who obey him have all they need.
Vivendo no temor do Senhor
Temer ao Senhor é obedecer seus mandamentos, andar em seus caminhos e amá-lo de todo coração. Essa reverência se expressa em justiça e integridade.
Follow the Lord and honor him; obey him and keep his commands; worship him and be faithful to him.
So then, do as the Lord has commanded you: live according to his laws and obey him.
Serve the Lord with fear;
tremble
Come, my young friends, and listen to me,
and I will teach you to honor the Lord.
Would you like to enjoy life?
Do you want long life and happiness?
Then keep from speaking evil
and from telling lies.
Turn away from evil and do good;
strive for peace with all your heart.
Honor the Lord and act carefully, because the Lord our God does not tolerate fraud or partiality or the taking of bribes."
Do not curse the deaf or put something in front of the blind so as to make them stumble over it. Obey me; I am the Lord your God.
Do not cheat an Israelite, but obey the Lord your God.
If any Israelites living near you become poor and cannot support themselves, you must provide for them as you would for a hired worker, so that they can continue to live near you. Do not charge Israelites any interest, but obey God and let them live near you.
"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot afterward do anything worse. I will show you whom to fear: fear God, who, after killing, has the authority to throw into hell. Believe me, he is the one you must fear!
