O trabalho é uma ordenança divina desde a criação. Deus colocou o homem no jardim para cultivar e guardar, revelando que o labor é parte do propósito humano e um meio de glorificá-lo.
Trabalho como vocação divina
Deus nos criou para trabalhar com propósito. O trabalho é expressão da imagem divina em nós e deve ser feito como para o Senhor.
Whatever you do, accomplish it from the soul, as to the Lord, and not to people,

and everything whatever you do in word or in deed, giving thanks for all things in the name of the Lord Jesus to God the Father through him.

Diligência e recompensa

A slack hand causes poverty,

Against Sloth
Go to the ant, lazy!
Consider its ways and be wise.

How long will you lie down, lazy?
When will you rise up from your sleep?
A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands for rest—
like a robber shall your poverty come,
and what you lack like an armed man.
Even he who is slack in his work,
he is brother to a master of destruction.
Do not love sleep, lest you become poor;
open your eyes and have plenty bread.
Wealth gained from haste will dwindle,
but he who gathers little by little will increase it.
The blessing of Yahweh makes one rich,
and he does not increase sorrow with it.

A excelência no trabalho honra a Deus. Devemos nos dedicar com competência, entregar nossos planos ao Senhor e buscar o melhor em cada tarefa.

O contentamento no trabalho
Deus nos dá a capacidade de desfrutar do nosso trabalho. Poder comer, beber e encontrar satisfação em nosso labor é um dom divino.
So I realized that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and enjoy themselves during their lives. And for anyone to eat and drink, that is, to enjoy the fruit of all his toil, this also is a gift of God.
If You Have Wealth, Enjoy It as God Enables
Look! I have discovered what is good and fitting: to eat and to drink and to enjoy all the fruit of the toil with which one toils under the sun during the number of the days of his life that God gives to him—for this is his lot.
This indeed is a gift of God: everyone to whom God gives wealth and possessions, he also empowers him to enjoy them, to accept his lot, and to rejoice in the fruit of his toil.
Friends and Family Can Help One Another in Life
Two are better than the one, for they enjoy a better reward for their toil.
Sometimes a man is all alone with no companion; he also has neither son nor brother. Yet there is no end to all his toil, and his eye is not satisfied with wealth. He laments, "For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?" This also is vanity—it is an unhappy business!
People Need Balance in Their Approach to Labor
I also realized that all of the toil and all of the skillful work that is done—it is envy between one man and another. This also is vanity and chasing wind!
A responsabilidade cristã
O cristão deve trabalhar com suas próprias mãos, viver dignamente e ser exemplo de dedicação. Quem não trabalha, não coma.
For even when we were with you, we used to command this to you: that if anyone does not want to work, neither should he eat. For we hear that some among you are living irresponsibly, working at nothing, but being busybodies. Now we command and we exhort such people in the Lord Jesus Christ that, working with quietness, they eat their own bread.
and to aspire to live a quiet life, and to attend to your own business, and to work with your hands, just as we commanded you, so that you may live decently toward those outside, and may have need of nothing.
The one who steals must steal no longer, but instead must labor, working with his own hands what is good, so that he may have something to share with the one who has need.
And God is able to cause all grace to abound to you, so that in everything at all times, because you have enough of everything, you may overflow in every good work.
Consequently a sabbath rest remains for the people of God. For the one who has entered into his rest has also himself rested from his works, just as God did from his own works.
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish for us the work of our hands,
yes, the work of our hands, establish it.
Consider the birds of the sky, that they do not sow or reap or gather produce into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth more than they are?
Suffer for Doing What is Good
And who is the one who will harm you if you are a zealous adherent for what is good?
Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in me, the works that I am doing he will do also, and he will do greater works than these because I am going to the Father.
But I consider my life as worth nothing to myself, in order to finish my mission and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
Watch yourselves that you do not lose what we have worked for, but receive a full reward.
