Uma só carne
O conceito de 'uma só carne' é o fundamento bíblico do casamento. Desde a criação, Deus uniu homem e mulher em uma aliança indissolúvel de amor, compromisso e intimidade.
A instituição divina do casamento
Deus criou o homem e a mulher e os uniu em aliança. O casamento é obra de Deus, e o que Ele juntou não separe o ser humano.
Then the Lord God made the man fall into a deep sleep, and while he was sleeping, he took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the flesh. He formed a woman out of the rib and brought her to him. Then the man said,
"At last, here is one of my own kind—
Bone taken from my bone, and flesh from my flesh.
‘Woman’ is her name because she was taken out of man."
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united with his wife, and they become one.
Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to live alone. I will make a suitable companion to help him."
So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female,
Jesus answered, "Haven’t you read the scripture that says that in the beginning the Creator made people male and female? And God said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two will become one.’ So they are no longer two, but one. No human being must separate, then, what God has joined together."

O mistério da união
Paulo ensina que a união conjugal é um grande mistério que aponta para Cristo e a Igreja. A intimidade reflete a comunhão espiritual plena.
Men ought to love their wives just as they love their own bodies. A man who loves his wife loves himself. ( None of us ever hate our own bodies. Instead, we feed them, and take care of them, just as Christ does the church; for we are members of his body.) As the scripture says, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two will become one." There is a deep secret truth revealed in this scripture, which I understand as applying to Christ and the church. But it also applies to you: every husband must love his wife as himself, and every wife must respect her husband.
You know that your bodies are parts of the body of Christ. Shall I take a part of Christ’s body and make it part of the body of a prostitute? Impossible! Or perhaps you don’t know that the man who joins his body to a prostitute becomes physically one with her? The scripture says quite plainly, "The two will become one body." But he who joins himself to the Lord becomes spiritually one with him.
Didn’t God make you one body and spirit with her? What was his purpose in this? It was that you should have children who are truly God’s people. So make sure that none of you breaks his promise to his wife.
Fidelidade e alegria
A aliança conjugal exige fidelidade, respeito e dedicação mútua. A Bíblia celebra a alegria da intimidade dentro do casamento.
So be happy with your wife and find your joy with the woman you married— pretty and graceful as a deer. Let her charms keep you happy; let her surround you with her love. Son, why should you give your love to another woman? Why should you prefer the charms of another man’s wife?
And to all these qualities add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity. The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful.
No more lying, then! Each of you must tell the truth to the other believer, because we are all members together in the body of Christ.
