Uma só carne
O conceito de 'uma só carne' é o fundamento bíblico do casamento. Desde a criação, Deus uniu homem e mulher em uma aliança indissolúvel de amor, compromisso e intimidade.
A instituição divina do casamento
Deus criou o homem e a mulher e os uniu em aliança. O casamento é obra de Deus, e o que Ele juntou não separe o ser humano.
And YHWH God causes a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he sleeps, and He takes one of his ribs, and closes up flesh in its stead. And YHWH God builds up the rib which He has taken out of the man into a woman, and brings her to the man; and the man says, "This at last! Bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh!" For this is called Woman, for this has been taken from Man; therefore a man leaves his father and his mother, and has cleaved to his wife, and they have become one flesh.
And YHWH God says, "[It is] not good for the man to be alone; I make him a helper as his counterpart."
And God creates the man in His image; in the image of God He created him, a male and a female He created them.
And He answering said to them, "Did you not read that He who made [them] from the beginning, made them a male and a female, and said, For this cause will a man leave father and mother, and cleave to his wife, and they will be—the two—for one flesh? So that they are no longer two, but one flesh; what therefore God joined together, let no man separate."

O mistério da união
Paulo ensina que a união conjugal é um grande mistério que aponta para Cristo e a Igreja. A intimidade reflete a comunhão espiritual plena.
so ought the husbands to love their own wives as their own bodies: he who is loving his own wife—he loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and nurtures it, as also the LORD—the Assembly, because we are members of His body, [[of His flesh, and of His bones.]] "For this cause will a man leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife, and the two will be into one flesh"; this secret is great, and I speak in regard to Christ and to the Assembly; but you also, everyone in particular—let each so love his own wife as himself, and the wife—that she may revere the husband.
Have you not known that your bodies are members of Christ? Having taken, then, the members of the Christ, will I make [them] members of a prostitute? Let it not be! Have you not known that he who is joined to the prostitute is one body? For it says, "The two will be into one flesh." And he who is joined to the LORD is one spirit;
And He did not make one [only], || And a remnant of the Spirit [is] for him. And what [is] the one [alone]! He is seeking a godly seed. And you have been watchful over your spirit, || And with the wife of your youth, || None deal treacherously.
Fidelidade e alegria
A aliança conjugal exige fidelidade, respeito e dedicação mútua. A Bíblia celebra a alegria da intimidade dentro do casamento.
Let your fountain be blessed, || And rejoice because of the wife of your youth, A doe of loves, and a roe of grace! Let her loves satisfy you at all times, || Magnify yourself in her love continually. And why do you magnify yourself, || My son, with a stranger? And embrace the bosom of a strange woman?
and above all these things, [have] love, which is a bond of the perfection, and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you were also called in one body, and become thankful.
For this reason, putting away the lying, each speak truth with his neighbor, because we are members of one another;
