1. O Senhor muda os tempos e estabelece reis
A sabedoria de Daniel reconheceu que a ascensão e a queda de grandes impérios mundiais acontecem unicamente sob a permissão divina, como lemos em Daniel 2:21:
That night the answer to the mystery was given to Daniel in a vision. Daniel blessed the God of heaven, saying,
"Blessed be the name of God,
forever and ever.
He knows all, does all:
He changes the seasons and guides history,
He raises up kings and also brings them down,
he provides both intelligence and discernment,
He opens up the depths, tells secrets,
sees in the dark—light spills out of him!
God of all my ancestors, all thanks! all praise!

2. O coração dos governantes está nas mãos do Senhor
Por mais poderoso que seja um governante humano, suas decisões e inclinações estão totalmente sujeitas ao direcionamento soberano do Criador, conforme afirma Provérbios 21:1:

he directs it to whatever ends he chooses.
3. As nações são como uma gota d'água no balde
Diante da majestade e da grandeza de Deus, o poder militar e econômico de todas as nações da terra reunidas torna-se insignificante, como declara o profeta em Isaías 40:15:
Who has scooped up the ocean
in his two hands,
or measured the sky between his thumb and little finger,
Who has put all the earth’s dirt in one of his baskets,
weighed each mountain and hill?
Who could ever have told God what to do
or taught him his business?
What expert would he have gone to for advice,
what school would he attend to learn justice?
What god do you suppose might have taught him what he knows,
showed him how things work?
Why, the nations are but a drop in a bucket,
a mere smudge on a window.
Watch him sweep up the islands
like so much dust off the floor!
There aren’t enough trees in Lebanon
nor enough animals in those vast forests
to furnish adequate fuel and offerings for his worship.
All the nations add up to simply nothing before him—
less than nothing is more like it. A minus.
4. Deus governa sobre todos os reinos dos homens
Após passar por um período de humilhação para aprender a não se orgulhar do seu poder, o rei Nabucodonosor da Babilônia reconheceu a autoridade do Altíssimo, conforme registrado em Daniel 4:35:
"At the end of the seven years, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked to heaven. I was given my mind back and I blessed the High God, thanking and glorifying God, who lives forever:
"His sovereign rule lasts and lasts,
his kingdom never declines and falls.
Life on this earth doesn’t add up to much,
but God’s heavenly army keeps everything going.
No one can interrupt his work,
no one can call his rule into question.
5. Os planos do Senhor permanecem para sempre
Enquanto os projetos das nações e as alianças humanas falham e passam, os decretos e os propósitos de Deus cumprem-se de geração em geração, como celebra Salmos 33:10-11:
God takes the wind out of Babel pretense,
he shoots down the world’s power-schemes.
God’s plan for the world stands up,
all his designs are made to last.
Blessed is the country with God for God;
blessed are the people he’s put in his will.
6. Toda autoridade humana é concedida por Deus
Ao se colocar diante de Pôncio Pilatos, Jesus relembrou ao governador romano que o poder político e judicial exercido pelos homens na terra é delegado e limitado pelos céus, conforme João 19:11:
Jesus said, "You haven’t a shred of authority over me except what has been given you from heaven. That’s why the one who betrayed me to you has committed a far greater fault."
7. O Reino de Deus subsistirá para sempre
O profeta Daniel contemplou a visão do estabelecimento final do Reino messiânico, que jamais será destruído ou superado por qualquer potência humana, como aponta Daniel 2:44:
"But throughout the history of these kingdoms, the God of heaven will be building a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will this kingdom ever fall under the domination of another. In the end it will crush the other kingdoms and finish them off and come through it all standing strong and eternal. It will be like the stone cut from the mountain by the invisible hand that crushed the iron, the bronze, the ceramic, the silver, and the gold.
"The great God has let the king know what will happen in the years to come. This is an accurate telling of the dream, and the interpretation is also accurate."
