2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going*to prepare a place for you?3 If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again*and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.*

9 After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 While he was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them.  *11 They said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven."  *

20 He who testifies about these things  * says, "Yes, I am coming soon."

Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!  *

12 "Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me*to repay each person according to his work.*

36 "Now concerning that day and hour no one knows — neither the angels of heaven nor the Son*— except the Father alone.*37 As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.38 For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah boarded the ark.*39 They didn’t know until the flood came and swept them all away. This is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be.

32 "Now concerning that day*or hour no one knows — neither the angels*in heaven nor the Son*— but only the Father.*

1 About the times and the seasons:  * Brothers and sisters, you do not need anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord  * will come just like a thief  * in the night. 3 When they say, "Peace and security," then sudden destruction  * will come upon them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

42 Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day*your Lord is coming.*43 But know this: If the homeowner had known what time*the thief was coming, he would have stayed alert and not let his house be broken into.*44 This is why you are also to be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.*

1 Now concerning the coming  * of our Lord  * Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him: We ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to be easily upset or troubled, either by a prophecy  *,* or by a message or by a letter supposedly from us, alleging that the day of the Lord  *,* has come.  *3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the apostasy  * comes first and the man of lawlessness  * is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god  * or object of worship,  * so that he sits  * in God’s temple, proclaiming that he himself is God.

16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout,  *,* with the archangel’s  * voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ  * will rise first. 17 Then  * we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds  * to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

24 "But in those days, after that tribulation:*The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; 25 the stars*will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.*26 Then they will see the Son of Man*coming*in clouds*with great power*and glory.*27 He will send out the angels*and gather his elect*from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.*

31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels*,*with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.*32 All the nations*,*will be gathered before him, and he will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.*33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on the left.

11 Then I saw heaven opened,  * and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True,  * and with justice he judges and makes war.  *12 His eyes were like a fiery flame,  * and many crowns  * were on his head.  * He had a name written that no one knows except himself.  *13 He wore a robe dipped in blood,  * and his name is called the Word of God.  *14 The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen. 15 A sharp  * sword  * came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it.  * He will rule  * them with an iron rod.  * He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God,  * the Almighty. 16 And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  *

26 For whoever is ashamed of me and my words,*the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory*and that of the Father and the holy angels.*

8 Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.  *9 The Lord does not delay his promise,  * as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any  * to perish  * but all to come to repentance.  *

10 But the day of the Lord  * will come like a thief;  *,* on that day the heavens will pass away  * with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved,  * and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.  *,*

11 Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way, it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness 12 as you wait for the day of God and hasten its coming.  *,* Because of that day, the heavens will be dissolved with fire and the elements will melt with heat. 13 But based on his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth,  * where righteousness dwells.  *

27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once — and after this, judgment  *  —  28 so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,  * will appear a second time,  * not to bear sin, but  * to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.  *
