1 And he came also to Derbe and to Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess that believed; but his father was a Greek. 3 Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those parts: for they all knew that his father was a Greek.

1 Paulo chegou às cidades de Derbe e Listra. Em Listra morava um cristão chamado Timóteo. A mãe dele, uma cristã, era da raça dos judeus, mas o pai dele não era judeu. 3 Paulo quis levá-lo consigo e por isso o circuncidou, pois todos os judeus que moravam naqueles lugares sabiam que o pai de Timóteo não era judeu.
