1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, 2 being sore troubled because they taught the people, and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in ward unto the morrow: for it was now eventide. 4 But many of them that heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem; 6 and Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest. 7 And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired, By what power, or in what name, have ye done this? 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders, 9 if we this day are examined concerning a good deed done to an impotent man, by what means this man is made whole; 10 be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even in him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 He is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner. 12 And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.

13 Now when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. 14 And seeing the man that was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 16 saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been wrought through them, is manifest to all that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. 17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. 18 And they called them, and charged them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to hearken unto you rather than unto God, judge ye: 20 for we cannot but speak the things which we saw and heard. 21 And they, when they had further threatened them, let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people; for all men glorified God for that which was done. 22 For the man was more than forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was wrought.

23 And being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said unto them. 24 And they, when they heard it, lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, O Lord, thou that didst make the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is: 25 who by the Holy Spirit, by the mouth of our father David thy servant, didst say,

Why did the Gentiles rage,

And the peoples imagine vain things?

26 The kings of the earth set themselves in array,

And the rulers were gathered together,

Against the Lord, and against his Anointed:

27 for of a truth in this city against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together, 28 to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel foreordained to come to pass. 29 And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness, 30 while thou stretchest forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of thy holy Servant Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken wherein they were gathered together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and soul: and not one of them said that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. 34 For neither was there among them any that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto each, according as any one had need.

36 And Joseph, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, Son of exhortation), a Levite, a man of Cyprus by race, 37 having a field, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

1 Pe când vorbeau Petru și Ioan norodului, au venit la ei pe neașteptate preoții, căpitanul Templului și saducheii, 2 foarte necăjiți*Mat. 22:23. Cap. 23:8. că învățau pe norod și vesteau în Isus învierea din morți. 3 Au pus mâinile pe ei și i-au aruncat în temniță până a doua zi, căci se înserase. 4 Însă mulți din cei ce auziseră cuvântarea au crezut, și numărul bărbaților credincioși s-a ridicat aproape la cinci mii. 5 A doua zi, mai-marii norodului, bătrânii și cărturarii s-au adunat împreună la Ierusalim, 6 cu marele preot Ana*Luca 3:2.Ioan 11:49;18:13., Caiafa, Ioan, Alexandru și toți cei ce se trăgeau din neamul marilor preoți. 7 Au pus pe Petru și pe Ioan în mijlocul lor și i-au întrebat: „Cu*Exod 2:14.Mat. 21:23. Cap. 7:27. ce putere sau în numele cui ați făcut voi lucrul acesta?" 8 Atunci*Luca 12:11,12. Petru, plin de Duhul Sfânt, le-a zis: „Mai-mari ai norodului și bătrâni ai lui Israel! 9 Fiindcă suntem trași astăzi la răspundere pentru o facere de bine făcută unui om bolnav și suntem întrebați cum a fost vindecat, 10 s-o știți toți și s-o știe tot norodul lui Israel! Omul acesta se înfățișează înaintea voastră pe deplin sănătos în*Cap. 3:6,16. Numele lui Isus Hristos din Nazaret, pe*Cap. 2:4. care voi L-ați răstignit, dar pe care Dumnezeu L-a înviat din morți. 11 El*Ps. 118:22.Is. 28:16.Mat. 21:42. este ‘piatra lepădată de voi, zidarii, care a ajuns să fie pusă în capul unghiului’. 12 În nimeni altul nu este mântuire, căci nu*Mat. 1:21. Cap. 10:43.1 Tim. 2:5,6. este sub cer niciun alt Nume dat oamenilor în care trebuie să fim mântuiți." 13 Când au văzut ei îndrăzneala lui Petru și a lui Ioan, s-au mirat, întrucât*Mat. 11:25.1 Cor. 1:27. știau că erau oameni necărturari și de rând, și au priceput că fuseseră cu Isus. 14 Dar, fiindcă vedeau lângă*Cap. 3:11. ei pe omul care fusese vindecat, nu puteau zice nimic împotrivă. 15 Le-au poruncit doar să iasă din sobor, s-au sfătuit între ei 16 și au zis: „Ce*Ioan 11:47. vom face oamenilor acestora? Căci este știut*Cap. 3:9,10. de toți locuitorii Ierusalimului că prin ei s-a făcut o minune vădită, pe care n-o putem tăgădui. 17 Dar, ca să nu se lățească vestea aceasta mai departe în norod, să-i amenințăm și să le poruncim ca de acum încolo să nu mai vorbească nimănui în Numele acesta." 18 Și după ce i-au chemat*Cap. 5:40., le-au poruncit să nu mai vorbească cu niciun chip, nici să mai învețe pe oameni în Numele lui Isus. 19 Drept răspuns, Petru și Ioan le-au zis: „Judecați voi singuri dacă*Cap. 5:29. este drept înaintea lui Dumnezeu să ascultăm mai mult de voi decât de Dumnezeu, 20 căci*Cap. 1:8;2:32;22:15.1 Ioan 1:1,3. noi nu putem să nu vorbim despre ce am văzut și am auzit." 21 I-au amenințat din nou și i-au lăsat să plece, căci nu știau cum să-i pedepsească, din pricina*Mat. 21:26.Luca 20:6,19;22:2. Cap. 5:26. norodului, fiindcă*Cap. 3:7,8. toți slăveau pe Dumnezeu pentru cele întâmplate. 22 Căci omul cu care se făcuse această minune de vindecare avea mai bine de patruzeci de ani.

23 După*Cap. 12:12. ce li s-a dat drumul, ei s-au dus la ai lor și le-au istorisit tot ce le spuseseră preoții cei mai de seamă și bătrânii. 24 Când au auzit ei aceste lucruri, și-au ridicat glasul toți împreună către Dumnezeu și au zis: „Stăpâne, Doamne, care*2 Împ. 19:15. ai făcut cerul, pământul, marea și tot ce este în ele! 25 Tu ai zis prin Duhul Sfânt, prin gura părintelui nostru David, robul Tău: ‘Pentru ce*Ps. 2:1. se întărâtă neamurile și pentru ce cugetă noroadele lucruri deșarte? 26 Împărații pământului s-au răsculat și domnitorii s-au unit împotriva Domnului și împotriva Unsului Său.’ 27 În*Mat. 26:3.Luca 22:2;23:1,8. adevăr, împotriva Robului Tău celui sfânt*Luca 1:35., Isus, pe*Luca 4:18.Ioan 10:36. care L-ai uns Tu, s-au însoțit în cetatea aceasta Irod și Pilat din Pont cu neamurile și cu noroadele lui Israel, 28 ca*Cap. 2:23;3:18. să facă tot ce hotărâse mai dinainte mâna Ta și sfatul Tău. 29 Și acum, Doamne, uită-Te la amenințările lor, dă putere robilor Tăi să*Vers. 13,31. Cap. 9:27;13:46;14:3;19:8;26:26;28:31.Efes. 6:19. vestească Cuvântul Tău cu toată îndrăzneala 30 și întinde-Ți mâna, ca*Cap. 2:43;5:12. să se facă tămăduiri, minuni și semne prin*Cap. 3:6,16. Numele Robului*Vers. 27. Tău celui sfânt, Isus." 31 După ce s-au rugat ei, s-a*Cap. 2:2,4;16:26. cutremurat locul unde erau adunați; toți s-au umplut de Duhul Sfânt și*Vers. 29. vesteau Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu cu îndrăzneală.

32 Mulțimea celor ce crezuseră era*Cap. 5:12.Rom. 15:5,6.2 Cor. 13:11.Filip. 1:27;2:2.1 Pet. 3:8. o inimă și un suflet. Niciunul*Cap. 2:44. nu zicea că averile lui sunt ale lui, ci aveau toate de obște. 33 Apostolii mărturiseau cu multă*Cap. 1:8. putere despre*Cap. 1:22. învierea Domnului Isus. Și un mare*Cap. 2:47. har era peste toți. 34 Căci nu era niciunul printre ei care să ducă lipsă: toți*Cap. 2:45. cei ce aveau ogoare sau case le vindeau, aduceau prețul lucrurilor vândute 35 și-l*Vers. 37. Cap. 5:2. puneau la picioarele apostolilor, apoi*Cap. 2:45;6:1. se împărțea fiecăruia după cum avea nevoie. 36 Iosif, numit de apostoli și Barnaba, adică, în tălmăcire, „fiul mângâierii", un levit, de neam din Cipru, 37 a vândut un ogor pe care-l avea*Vers. 34,35. Cap. 5:1,2., a adus banii și i-a pus la picioarele apostolilor.
