1 And the lot came out for the children of Joseph from the Jordan at Jericho, at the waters of Jericho on the east, even the wilderness, going up from Jericho through the hill-country to Beth-el; 2 and it went out from Beth-el to Luz, and passed along unto the border of the Archites to Ataroth; 3 and it went down westward to the border of the Japhletites, unto the border of Beth-horon the nether, even unto Gezer; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. 4 And the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

5 And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: the border of their inheritance eastward was Ataroth-addar, unto Beth-horon the upper; 6 and the border went out westward at Michmethath on the north; and the border turned about eastward unto Taanath-shiloh, and passed along it on the east of Janoah; 7 and it went down from Janoah to Ataroth, and to Naarah, and reached unto Jericho, and went out at the Jordan. 8 From Tappuah the border went along westward to the brook of Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim according to their families; 9 together with the cities which were set apart for the children of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages. 10 And they drove not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell in the midst of Ephraim unto this day, and are become servants to do taskwork.

Hotarul urma pustia care se ridică de la Ierihon la Betel prin munte. 2 Mergea mai departe de la Betel la Luz*Cap. 18:13.Jud. 1:26. și trecea spre hotarul archiților prin Atarot. 3 Apoi se cobora la apus spre hotarul iafletiților până la hotarul Bet-Horonului*Cap. 18:13.2 Cron. 8:5. de jos și până la Ghezer*1 Cron. 7:28.1 Împ. 9:15., ieșind la mare. 4 Acolo și-au primit moștenirea fiii*Cap. 17:14. lui Iosif: Manase și Efraim. 5 Iată hotarele fiilor lui Efraim, după familiile lor. Hotarul moștenirii lor era la răsărit Atarot-Adar*Cap. 18:13. până la Bet-Horonul*2 Cron. 8:5. de sus. 6 Ieșea spre mare la Micmetat*Cap. 17:7., în partea de miazănoapte, se întorcea la răsărit până la Taanat-Silo și trecea înspre răsărit prin Ianoah. 7 Din Ianoah cobora la Atarot*1 Cron. 7:28. și la Naarata, atingea Ierihonul și mergea până la Iordan. 8 Din Tapuah mergea spre apus, până la pârâul Cana*Cap. 17:9., și ieșea la mare. Aceasta a fost moștenirea seminției fiilor lui Efraim, după familiile lor. 9 Fiii lui Efraim aveau și cetăți*Cap. 17:9. deosebite în mijlocul moștenirii fiilor lui Manase, toate cu satele lor. 10 Ei n-au izgonit*Jud. 1:29.1 Împ. 9:16. pe canaaniții care locuiau în Ghezer, și canaaniții au locuit în mijlocul lui Efraim până în ziua de azi, dar au fost puși să plătească un bir.
