1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

2 How long will ye hunt for words?

Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

3 Wherefore are we counted as beasts,

And are become unclean in your sight?

4 Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger,

Shall the earth be forsaken for thee?

Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?

5 Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out,

And the spark of his fire shall not shine.

6 The light shall be dark in his tent,

And his lamp above him shall be put out.

7 The steps of his strength shall be straitened,

And his own counsel shall cast him down.

8 For he is cast into a net by his own feet,

And he walketh upon the toils.

9 A gin shall take him by the heel,

And a snare shall lay hold on him.

10 A noose is hid for him in the ground,

And a trap for him in the way.

11 Terrors shall make him afraid on every side,

And shall chase him at his heels.

12 His strength shall be hunger-bitten,

And calamity shall be ready at his side.

13 The members of his body shall be devoured,

Yea, the first-born of death shall devour his members.

14 He shall be rooted out of his tent wherein he trusteth;

And he shall be brought to the king of terrors.

15 There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his:

Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

16 His roots shall be dried up beneath,

And above shall his branch be cut off.

17 His remembrance shall perish from the earth,

And he shall have no name in the street.

18 He shall be driven from light into darkness,

And chased out of the world.

19 He shall have neither son nor son’s son among his people,

Nor any remaining where he sojourned.

20 They that come after shall be astonished at his day,

As they that went before were affrighted.

21 Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous,

And this is the place of him that knoweth not God.

2 „Când vei pune capăt acestor cuvântări?

Vino-ți în minți, și apoi vom vorbi.

3 Pentru ce ne socotești atât de*Ps. 73:22. dobitoci?

Pentru ce ne privești ca pe niște vite?

4 Oare pentru tine, care te sfâșii*Cap. 13:14. în mânia ta,

s-ajungă pustiu pământul

și să se strămute stâncile din locul lor?

5 Da, lumina celui rău se va*Prov. 13:9;20:20;24:20. stinge

și flacăra din focul lui nu va mai străluci.

6 Se va întuneca lumina în cortul lui

și se va stinge candela*Cap. 21:17.Ps. 18:28. deasupra lui.

7 Pașii lui cei puternici se vor strâmta;

și, cu toate opintirile*Cap. 5:13. lui, va cădea.

8 Căci calcă cu picioarele*Cap. 22:10.Ps. 9:15;35:8. pe laț

și umblă prin ochiuri de rețea;

9 este prins în cursă de călcâi

și lațul*Cap. 5:5. pune stăpânire pe el;

10 capcana în care se prinde este ascunsă în pământ

și prinzătoarea îi stă pe cărare.

11 De jur împrejur*Cap. 15:21;20:25.Ier. 6:25;20:3;46:5;49:29. îl apucă spaima

și-l urmărește pas cu pas.

12 Foamea îi mănâncă puterile,

nenorocirea*Cap. 15:23. este alături de el.

13 Mădularele îi sunt mistuite unul după altul,

mădularele îi sunt mâncate de întâiul născut al morții.

14 Este smuls din cortul lui, unde se credea la adăpost*Cap. 8:14;11:20.Ps. 112:10.Prov. 10:28.,

și este târât spre împăratul spaimelor.

15 Nimeni din ai lui nu locuiește în cortul lui,

pucioasă este presărată pe locuința lui.

16 Jos*Cap. 29:19.Is. 5:24.Amos 2:9.Mal. 4:1. i se usucă rădăcinile;

sus îi sunt ramurile tăiate.

17 Îi piere pomenirea*Ps. 34:16;109:13.Prov. 2:22;10:7. de pe pământ,

numele lui nu mai este pe uliță.

18 Este împins din lumină în întuneric

și este izgonit din lume.

19 Nu*Is. 14:22.Ier. 22:30. lasă nici moștenitori, nici sămânță în poporul său,

nicio rămășiță vie în locurile în care locuia.

20 Neamurile care vor veni se vor uimi de prăpădirea*Ps. 37:13. lui,

și neamul de acum va fi cuprins de groază.

21 Aceasta este soarta celui rău,

aceasta este soarta celui ce nu*Ier. 9:3;10:25.1 Tes. 4:5.2 Tes. 1:8.Tit 1:16. cunoaște pe Dumnezeu."
