1 Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah.

2 Contend with your mother, contend; for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband; and let her put away her whoredoms from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts; 3 lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst. 4 Yea, upon her children will I have no mercy; for they are children of whoredom; 5 for their mother hath played the harlot; she that conceived them hath done shamefully; for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink. 6 Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, that she shall not find her paths. 7 And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

8 For she did not know that I gave her the grain, and the new wine, and the oil, and multiplied unto her silver and gold, which they used for Baal. 9 Therefore will I take back my grain in the time thereof, and my new wine in the season thereof, and will pluck away my wool and my flax which should have covered her nakedness. 10 And now will I uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of my hand. 11 I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feasts, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies. 12 And I will lay waste her vines and her fig-trees, whereof she hath said, These are my hire that my lovers have given me; and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them. 13 And I will visit upon her the days of the Baalim, unto which she burned incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith Jehovah.

14 Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. 15 And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall make answer there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. 16 And it shall be at that day, saith Jehovah, that thou shalt call me Ishi, and shalt call me no more Baali. 17 For I will take away the names of the Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be mentioned by their name. 18 And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the heavens, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the land, and will make them to lie down safely. 19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. 20 I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness; and thou shalt know Jehovah.

21 And it shall come to pass in that day, I will answer, saith Jehovah, I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth; 22 and the earth shall answer the grain, and the new wine, and the oil; and they shall answer Jezreel. 23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them that were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

1 Ziceți fraților voștri Ami (Poporul meu) și surorilor voastre Ruhama (Cea îndurată)! 2 Plângeți-vă, plângeți-vă împotriva mamei voastre! Căci*Is. 50:1. nu este nevasta Mea și Eu nu sunt bărbatul ei! Să-și depărteze*Ezec. 16:25. curviile dinaintea ei și preacurviile de la țâțele ei! 3 Altfel, o dezbrac*Ier. 13:22,26.Ezec. 16:37,39. în pielea goală, cum era în ziua nașterii ei*Ezec. 16:4., o fac ca o pustie, ca un pământ uscat*Ezec. 19:13., și o las să moară de sete*Amos 8:11,13.! 4 Nu voi avea milă de copiii ei, căci sunt copii din curvie*Ioan 8:41.. 5 Mama*Is. 1:21.Ier. 3:1,6,8,9.Ezec. 16:15. lor a curvit; cea care i-a născut s-a necinstit, căci a zis: ‘Voi alerga după ibovnicii mei, care îmi dau pâinea*Ier. 44:17. Vers. 8,12. și apa mea, lâna și inul meu, untdelemnul și băuturile mele!’ 6 De aceea, iată, îi voi astupa*Iov 3:23;19:8.Plâng. 3:7,9. drumul cu spini, i-l voi astupa cu un zid, ca să nu-și mai afle cărările. 7 Va alerga după ibovnicii ei, dar nu-i va ajunge; îi va căuta, dar nu-i va găsi. Apoi va zice: ‘Hai să mă*Cap. 5:15.Luca 15:18. întorc iarăși la bărbatul*Ezec. 16:8. meu cel dintâi, căci eram mai fericită atunci decât acum!’ 8 N-a cunoscut*Is. 1:3. că Eu*Ezec. 16:17-19. îi dădeam grâul, mustul și untdelemnul și au închinat slujbei lui Baal argintul și aurul cel mult pe care i-l dădeam. 9 De aceea, Îmi voi lua iarăși înapoi*Vers. 3. grâul la vremea lui și mustul la vremea lui și Îmi voi ridica iarăși de la ea lâna și inul pe care i le dădusem ca să-i acopere goliciunea. 10 Și acum îi voi descoperi*Ezec. 16:37;23:29. rușinea înaintea ibovnicilor ei și niciunul n-o va scoate din mâna Mea. 11 Voi face*Amos 8:10. să înceteze toată bucuria ei, sărbătorile*1 Împ. 12:32.Amos 8:5. ei, lunile ei cele noi, sabatele ei și toate praznicele ei. 12 Îi voi pustii și viile și smochinii, despre care*Vers. 5. zicea: ‘Aceasta este plata pe care mi-au dat-o ibovnicii mei!’ Le voi preface*Ps. 80:12,13.Is. 5:5. într-o pădure și le vor mânca fiarele câmpului. 13 O voi pedepsi pentru zilele când tămâia baalilor, când se gătea*Ezec. 23:40,42. cu veriga de nas, cu salba ei, și alerga după ibovnicii ei, uitând de Mine", zice Domnul. 14 „De aceea, iată, o voi ademeni și o voi duce*Ezec. 20:35. în pustie și-i voi vorbi pe placul inimii ei. 15 Acolo, îi voi da iarăși viile și valea Acor*Ios. 7:26.Is. 65:10. i-o voi preface într-o ușă de nădejde și acolo va cânta ca în vremea tinereții ei*Ier. 2:2.Ezec. 16:8,22,60. și ca în ziua când s-a suit*Exod 15:1. din țara Egiptului. 16 În ziua aceea", zice Domnul, „Îmi vei zice: ‘Bărbatul meu’ și nu-Mi vei mai zice: ‘Stăpânul meu’. 17 Voi scoate*Exod 23:13.Ios. 23:7.Ps. 16:4.Zah. 13:2. din gura ei numele baalilor, ca să nu mai fie pomeniți pe nume. 18 În ziua aceea, voi încheia pentru ei un legământ*Iov 5:23.Is. 11:6-9.Ezec. 34:25. cu fiarele câmpului, cu păsările cerului și cu târâtoarele pământului, voi sfărâma din țară arcul*Ps. 46:9.Is. 2:4.Ezec. 39:9,10.Zah. 9:10., sabia și orice unealtă de război și-i voi face să locuiască*Lev. 26:5.Ier. 23:6. în liniște. 19 Te voi logodi cu Mine pentru totdeauna; te voi logodi cu Mine prin neprihănire, judecată, mare bunătate și îndurare; 20 te voi logodi cu Mine prin credincioșie și vei cunoaște*Ier. 31:33,34.Ioan 17:3. pe Domnul! 21 În ziua aceea, voi*Zah. 8:12. asculta, zice Domnul, voi asculta cerurile, și ele vor asculta pământul; 22 pământul va asculta grâul, mustul și untdelemnul, și acestea*Cap. 1:4. vor asculta pe Izreel*2:22 Adică: pe care o sădește Dumnezeu.. 23 Îmi voi sădi*Ier. 31:27.Zah. 10:9. pe Lo-Ruhama în țară și-i voi da îndurare*Cap. 1:6.; voi zice*Cap. 1:10.Zah. 13:9.Rom. 9:26.1 Pet. 2:10. lui Lo-Ami: ‘Tu ești poporul Meu!’ Și el va răspunde: ‘Dumnezeul meu!’"
